Am I OCD? Does anyone else do this?
Ok, say you bump your knee on the desk or something, do you then have to bump the other knee to even it out?
I am so bad about this! I am always trying to “even things out”. My hands are really hot right now and then I touched something cold with my right hand so I had to turn around and touch it with my left hand too!

Nope.. can’t say that I do that!!
No, a friend was just telling me about his brother who also had the “evens” and would have to do the same thing.
Good Luck!
I used to be that way when I was younger…to the point of making sure I was chewing with both sides of my mouth evenly! I’d venture to say it is a little OCD. Since you are aware of it, try to break yourself of the habit…little by little.
i always do that. i hate odd numbers. i chew food on both sides of my mouth, i eat skittles and if a handful doesnt have an even number, i get pissed off in my head, i make sure that when i touch something, i touch it with the other hand too to make it even. my twix question was inspired by this aspect of some peoples lives.
Not at all. I just whine when I hit something!
Everyone has their little idiosyncrasies. I’m sort of that way, but only with getting my hands wet. If my right hand gets wet, my left one has to as well. My sister has this thing, whenever she leaved a room and goes to turn off the light, she turns it on and off like 5 times. Dunno why.
I used to think EVERYBODY uses the same number of Q-tips on each ear until my daughter told me I was crazy!
Sounds a little OCD-ish. If it doesn’t cause you problems in being able to function relatively normally in your day…I wouldn’t worry too much.
What does OCD stands for?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
So does this mean you have to go to TWO therapists, one for each side of your brain?
That is an OCD-type thing to do, but I would say that you needn’t worry about it unless the habits have a truly negative influence on your life. If you are otherwise happy and it is not causing any problems in your life (socially, or at work or school, with family, etc.), then you’re ok. If you do believe that something like OCD is messing up your life, you might want to check out ocfoundation.org (OCD Foundation) and/or seek treatment from a mental health professional.
Not to that extent. I do, however, request that the physical therapist work the right side of my body the same way she works the left side (the side that the problem is on). Otherwise I feel all uneven.
I have a friend who has that exact issue, she is mildly OCD, so I blow on the side of her neck or her shoulder, something she can’t possible do to herself to even it out.
She does the most awesome Ants Are Crawling All Over Me dance. Then smacks me.
Worth it.
I have the evens. I hate odd numbers too. Except for black 13 on a roulette table.
