What album did you have on vinyl that skipped?

Asked by SuperMouse (30853points) November 1st, 2008

Do you still listen for the skip whenever you hear a certain song? I had Queen’s Greatest Hits, there was a scratch in Killer Queen, to this day every time I hear that song I expect it to skip once it hits the part where Freddie sings “dynamite with a laser beam…”

My mom and I are finding a way to transfer her Tanya Tucker and Loretta Lynn albums to mp3 format because she so enjoys the skips that she was used to as a kid.

Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of listening to much vinyl.

Much of side two of Led Zeppelin IV skipped. Also, All My Loving from The Chipmunks Sing The Beatles skipped near the end of the song.

Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet had a skip in “Wild in the streets”. I still expect to hear it whenever I play the song.

My fave skip (I had tons of them…sometimes a penny on the arm would work….sometimes not…) was on Janis’ Mercedes Benz: “Oh lord, won’t you buy me a mer, mer, mer, mer, mer, (flink of the finger) cedes Benz. My friends all drive Porches I mus, I mus, I mus, I mus” Everytime I hear it now I incorporate the skips.

I also had a Three Dog Night album that skipped like holey hell. “well, I never been to Spain, but I kinda like the music, ic, ic, ic, ic, ic, ic…”

Ah…dems be da good old days…
