How has the experience of developing Fluther.com been with regards to the software used?

What kind of effort was involved and how much hardware is required to power it? Any information for people wanting to build web applications using the same framework is helpful.

At the top of fluther’s main page, there is a contact button, ask the two creators of this site how they did it & what problems they ran into. Since they were the ones to create it, none of us made fluther.
