Lung cancer or liver disease? It's probably best to not do either

It depends on how much you take in. A glass of red wine a day is actually good for you. If you drink a case of beer a day I know this is not good either. Therefore quanity is important in answering this question.

I dont think long term or short term effects of pot is worse than alcohol. As for short term, people make much worse decisions while drunk, unprotected sex, driving, fighting. In general, I feel much worse and dumber after a few beers than no matter how much pot I smoke. I think it is illegal only bc you can grow it yourself, and the possibilities to make money from it are endless and it would one of the best cash businesses bc of its many benefits (cloths, food, building, medicinal). In my opinion, alcohol, tobacco, and anti- depressents are THE 3 worst drugs, with the least benefits, but are legal and very widely accepted. If you research LSD and psilocybin, among other psychedelic drugs, they have provided many benefits to people, including religious experiences, for many many generations. I think the key to drugs is research. If I may, I suggest the book Food of the Gods by Terrence Mckenna.

xgunther.... A professor from ucla concluded in 2006 that smoking marijuana, regularly or heavily, does not cause lung cancer, and may even help kill off aging cells so that they do not become cancerous. Google it

I agree, I've done some dumb stuff on alcohol " liquid courage" but never on weed, why is it we can't get America behind us on whatbseemsto be abo braine? I thought 20 years ago the new politicians coming in would eventually see that but i just saw that California is repealing there the medical marijuana act

Well, lets count up the amount of deaths related to Pot and compare it to the amount of deaths caused by drinking (including drunk drivers and their victims). Munchies for thought : )

chris6137: while I'd love to believe that professor, It's hard to believe that that much smoke and tar is beneficial.

As an occasional smoker, every once in a while you get that one hit that makes you cough so bad you'd swear you're dying. That can't be too healthy over time.

Any some of my friends are heavy users, and when they get a cold, it just won't go away until they decide to put it down and wait a few days. That signals to me that its not a great immune booster.

But maybe Ive just been brainwashed by public school health class. LOL

@zacko – That’s because people who smoke weed become incredibly lazy. Instead of going out and killing people, they’re really only destroying their own lives.

not true. Many people who smoke are succesful. They just tend to hide it because “its not acceptable”

Alcohol is far more dangerous than marijuana.

The obvious answer is that alcohol is fermented death in a bottle, there are even religious movements like the Rastafarians who use weed as a sacrament but abstain from alcohol.

The REAL danger is ignorance, like luminous00 here!

BOTH IN MODERATION CAN BE BENIFICIAL, ABUSING EITHER? HMMM! WELL CANNABIS MUST SURELY BE THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS! BUT, THEN AGAIN THERE ARE THOSE WHO ABUSE BOTH TOGETHER, WE ALL KNOW THEM, USUALLY SOAP DODGING, UNEMPLOYABLE UNDERCLASS! A REEFER AND A BEER OR TWO IS PLEASANTLY SOCIABLE, BUT SMOKE AFTER SMOKE AND AN ABSOLUTE SKINFULL OF BEER IS BIG TROUBLE AND ADDICTIVE!

I think everyone needs to put down the bottle and pick up a bong… I have done both, and my only regrettable actions are with the liquid poison… weed just makes me happy… not hateful

My father is a heavy smoker. Even though he doesn’t smoke pot, he says that the only thing would make him feel sad if I become a pot addict. There are many cures for the affects of alcohol but the same can’t be said for alcohol.
