As in copy a movie off blu-ray or download from the internet?

skabeep's avatar

you can download them but it’s sure not fast or easy. Movies tend to be 30+ gigs and then you need a monitor and video card that will display at the correct resolution. If you want the real 1080p that is

i meen can you have a downlode to make your PC a blu-ray player

JoeyDesignsStuff's avatar

You’d need a Blu-Ray drive, same as you would a DVD drive.
They’re still rather expensive.

joeysefika's avatar

Yeah, its a hardware thing not a software upgrade. You would be looking between $100 and $350 for a blue ray drive and I don’t know if there are even compatible players out for Blu-Ray

eambos's avatar

If you have $100 to burn, gizmodo.com has a link to an internal blu ray drive for only $99. not bad for a $230 piece of hardware.

skabeep's avatar

you can still download and watch the movies without the drive assuming your video card will support it

@skabeep, true that.

But the question is, why would you want to? The quality difference for anything but a 52” screen over a DVD is negligible. You would be effort for pleasure ahead by stealing dvds.
did I say that outloud?

i agree its not worth it. my desktop is hooked up to my 52 inch tv and it does look good, but who wants to keep 30 gig movies on their harddrive?

ctimm15's avatar

i guess so

joeysefika's avatar

@skabeep especially seeing as my download quota per month is only 25GB

ctimm15's avatar

so where can i buy the cheapest upgrade

joeysefika's avatar

Go to your nearest computer shop, (Best Buy something like that, i don’t know in America) or just look on Amazon, thats a $100 one.

You would then have to try find some sort of Blu-Ray player app on computers like this and see if you can get them to play.

i live in QLD australia so where could i buy one here

joeysefika's avatar

Amazon still, they ship anywhere, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, eBay, JB Hifi. Go into your local electronic shop and ask. They’ll be more than happy to help.

Yes, buts its a 50+GB file, and you need blu-ray drive that’s at least 100 USD.

Increase the packet size of downloaded bits by installing some software for it. Additionally try DNS setting given by google. Try: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
