MRS. DOUBTFIRE, AMERICAN BEAUTY, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SLEEPLESS MIND, HABLE CON ELLA, maybe V FOR VENDETTA ..... in foreign category also CITY OF GOD, AMANDLA, and more recently FAVELA RISING...... oh geez there are so many....
i'm terrible at this, maybe i shouldn't have tried to answer this question!!
oh how could i forget AMELIE!
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, KONTROLL, ...........
how in the world do you pick one favorite????? i really am curious how people do it.
Usual Suspects or The Game
The Big Lebowski and/or Big Trouble in Little China.
Hunt for Red October, Shawshank Redemption, Boondock Saints, What Dreams May Come
As is obvious from the responses thus far, it's near impossible to pick just one. If I were stranded on a desert island and could only have one DVD with me, I'd pick Finding Nemo.
But there are several films that I can watch over and over (some are already listed, so I won't repeat), also: Signs; American History X; Gallipoli; Big; the Bourne trilogy; Do the Right Thing; E.T.; Finding Neverland; the Shining; Witness; The Nightmare Before Christmas; Something the Lord Made; I'm sure there are more, but my head is spinning...
I'd have to agree with hearkat - Finding Nemo is definitely the best movie to be stranded on a desert island with - I could watch that one every day and not get tired of it...
el topo was just released on DVD, I highly recommend it. Very obscure
Pleasantville.
But I also love baseball movies - A League of Their Own, The Sandlot, 61..
I prefer The Godfather but according to this movie list Shawshank Redemption is their favorite.
Amelie, or maybe Zoolander. Kill Bill and American Beauty, and also Volver.
Koyaanisqatsi – a Godfrey Reggio film with Phillip Glass producing a masterful musical masterpiece, and Ron Fricke’s Imax quality film montage. No actors, no words spoken – a real world with the chaos theory of life in full swing – and the sharp contrast of the beautiful, serene landscape of our planet and how it’s been altered to produce mounds of stress, anxiety, and frustration all at the hands and gears of the machine age. The title of the movie is a hopi indian word meaning ‘Life out of balance’, very reflective of the early 80s, when the movie appeared, and even more so now.
It’s a Wonderful Life. Just saw it again the other night.
Depends when you ask me—today it could be Jaws, tomorrow Fight Club, and the day after Bourne Identity. i will recommend that you check out a film called The Man from Earth http://imdb.com/title/tt0756683/
O wow, Top Gun is first then Gia…I love so many its very heard to pick just one.
