How do I find my friends on fluther?

Asked by TheBox193 (997points) November 7th, 2008

I’m wondering if there is a way to find out if any of my contact are on fluther. I have facebook, myspace, and gmail.

You don’t. This isn’t really a social networking site and the user base is small. The odds of you finding the girl you lusted after in the ninth grade here are slim.

isnt the point to remain anon?

@A:I don’t think it’s the point to stay anonymous, it just seems that the community has decided to maintain their anonymity.

this isn’t a network, it’s the collective.

But we’re all friends here!

It seems the only way to find out would be to ask your friends if they are on fluther.

And hey, if they’re not, you can persuade them to join!

@Asmonet, unless I missed something, I don’t think it’s fair to say that “the community” has decided to maintain anonymity. I know I sure didn’t. I value transparency.

I think it’s officially sanctioned to register another Fluther username from the same IP address if one were to wish for more anonymity on sensitive questions.

That said, I do see your point that we have maybe collectively decided on anonymity. It just raised my hackles enough to prompt a response… it’s ironic that we can be so personal in our responses sometimes, and still have a need for anonymity. Or maybe – BECAUSE of the personal-ness of some of our responses, there’s a need for anonymity. Hm.

You’d have to know their screen names.

@Trusting: I think you got my point, you’re right, I should have worded my response better. I meant to say that the majority of us seem to keep our anonymity while sharing extraordinarily person anecdotes and information. “BECAUSE of the personal-ness of some of our responses, there’s a need for anonymity.” for some.

There’s nothing really, identifying on here about me from a strangers perspective. An acquaintance of mine could figure it out relatively easily I imagine.

I didn’t mean to raise any hackles. I was on my phone, and typing that much is a chore that I don’t particularly enjoy. Never mind the thought of explaining it, I tend to cut my thoughts down with a machete on my slide out keyboard. :)

I wouldn’t say that we are anonymous, I mean you can google any of our usernames and find out more about us. My real point of asking this question was to find out if there was a way to get my friends in the ‘my fluther’ section. Thank you everyone, question’s answered.
