i went to a place called Downtown Music & More once and they usually have metal/hard rock shows. once there was this guy there with a “band” called Anal Guardian lol he was so bad but the worst part was that every instrument he made on a computer program and he tried to play guitar and sing with it. i dont think ive ever heard anything quite so aweful

The first band that came to mind is Of Montreal there are far more obscure bands than they.
@asmonet I’ll agree with that. Of montreal is awesome. Check out their music videos, they are weird…. bloody weird.
Hes a bit more popular now since hes been touring with Buckethead and had a song on weeds but That1Guy is amazing and so is the magic pipe he plays. Plus he plays a saw and a boot. Truly a pleasure to watch live.

I saw a band once called mâché tres or something like that and it was these guys who did old school punk in Spanglish and dressed like a hair band and it was awesome. I think the bartender and I were the only ones that got them because everyone had these funny looks on their faces but it was one of the most entertaining bands I have ever seen.
Gogol Bordello. i’ve only heard one of their songs and my boyfriend loves them.
The Magnetic Fields. they’re a little mainstream because their song absolutely cuckoo was in a phone ad or something like that.
all of these are not “SUPER” unknown… but are still pretty uncommon and don’t suck too hard.
adam green/ moldy peaches can be fun (listen to mozzarella swastikas)
neutral milk hotel. (listen to two headed boy, or airplane over the sea.)

They have no website, myspace or recordings but you can be cooler than everyone on your street because now there is only 3 people who know who they are.

@tiffyandthewall MSI is nothing anymore. Back 6–7 years they used to be great and actually orginal, but they have long since sold their souls to hot topic.
@uberbatman, yeah, that’s kinda what i was taking into consideration as soon as i typed their name haha. i still think they’re rather entertaining and pretty good live (at least the first time i saw them), but yeah, totally with you on that.

lol, Anal Cunt is out there but if you want strange, check out Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti. You have there a bizarre music AND bizarre personnage. His music sucks in a utterly fascinating way. I also find Horse the band’s nintendocore very funny-strange. Let’s see, Mr. Bungle’s musical melting pots are notoriously weird. And check out György Ligeti’s 2nd string quartet… it’ll blow ur minds!
Oh, and also, shadowfelldown.. There is no way Malajube is weird, they have a ton of fans worldwide including me, and honnestly, their sound is very mainstream compare to others
