Who would you like to see as the 11th Doctor?
Okay. Put on your nerd hats and dig deep.
As you Whovians out there know, David Tennant will stop playing the Doctor after the four Doctor Who specials (That’s right. No regular series 5. What a gyp!) air in 2009–10. So any ideas of who you’d like to see him regenerate into? I’m still formulating my list.

I just had a sudden thought…. Ewan McGregor. I don’t know though. I’d have to think harder about that, it was only a split second train of thought that came into my mind when I read your question.
I haven’t really thought about it yet…. I’m still bemoaning David Tennant’s departure.
Lemme get back to you.
I would love to see John Simm. That would be unlikely, however.
I was sorry to see him killed off as the Master.
(Yes, I know that the Master wasn’t really killed off. Apparently his “essence” was in that ring. But his body did die. Right?)
SHUT UP. I’m not listening, Chuck!
It’s not frickin’ happening.
::pouts::
P.S. I totally heard that RTD loved Harry Lloyd from Human Nature/Family of Blood. I think he’s a terrible choice, good actor….but not right.
Does anyone know why there isn’t going to be a regular series? What’s up with that?

personally I think that James Nesbitt would be fantastic!
No. I only know that both Doctor Who and Torchwood are going to appear in specials only this next year. DW has the annual Christmas episode coming up, and then three more specials before he is bye-bye.
@joey-Hugh Grant?
Thats not my list – just one I just found it on a DW rumour site :link
I would like to see his next incarnation be female. I think it would be really neat – same Time Lord, just with hips this time.
I remember a rumor that Colin Baker’s Doctor was going to regenerate into a female.
Last time I checked, Syvester McCoy still had male parts.
Not that I’ve been checking Syvester McCoy’s parts.

Whoa. What happened? That was weird.
@astrochuck John Simm is great. Have you ever seen Human Traffic?
No. But I loved him as Sam Tyler.
Yeah, he was fantastic as Sam Tyler, just as brilliant as The Master. It’s a shame that he can’t be the Doctor.
Amazing how little I know about what goes on in this world behind my back.
Ooh looking at another list on that site I saw James McAvoy… mmmm, that would be nice!
Omg I would DIE if James McAvoy became the Doctor… sigh
I didn’t know know that it was confirmed that DT was leaving, thanks for ruining my dreams Astro… :-p (living in a news vacuum kinda helps sometimes)
I have a secret longing for it to be Mos Def. I think Anthony Head is out because it would mean the weird bat creatures won in a way.
I love 10th Doctor. I don’t want him to go!
@azul – I don’t think the doctor will be a woman simply because he has to get married in order to resolve the story line from Silence in the Library.
I think Hugh Laurie would make a pretty interesting Doctor. He’s got the right kind of attitude and facial expressions. He’s probably too big for them but it would be interesting.
I don’t know enough about British Actors to offer a solid guess here, but I would be willing to bet that we see an 11th and 12th Doctor within a couple of years.
Really going to miss Tennant, I thought he did an excellent job.
Bill Paterson. Let’s keep the Scottish Doctor thing going.
That would be kinda neat. After all, Georgia Moffett (Peter Davison’s daughter) played The Doctor’s daughter, so why not Jon Pertwee’s son as Doc #11? Of course, then you’d have a Doctor in his mid-forties.
I was thinking and I would actually love it if Stephen Fry was the doctor.
And too bad Steve Carell is American…
Though I’m pretty sure the next one is going to be younger that David Tennant.
I can’t believe that Eccleston only lasted one season, in my opinion he was better than Tennant. DT would’ve be better if he had used his proper accent.
No! Gasp! DT is FAR better than Eccleston! Speak no more!
No, no, no, no! Eccleston was a better Doctor. I watch the 27th season over and over again just to see him! (they were very well written episodes too)
Now that Little Britain is over, why not bring back the best Doctor ever?
That would be Tom Baker, of course.
Perhaps he might be just a little long in the tooth, no?
Maybe the Doctor won’t regenerate and he will pass the TARDIS to his daughter.
He could decide to get married and retire from saving the world, give his wife his sonic screwdriver and all.
Great question, AC
@fireside: You realize that version of events would result in some seriously homicidal nerd rage?
@asmonet – maybe that is the reason for the delayed season…deferred nerd rage.
@fireside: Well, in my case it’s only exacerbating the problem. Damn!
How about Rufus Sewell or Craig Ferguson?
How about Sean Connery for a short stint?
Sean Connery is too old, he could be the doctors daughters granddad?
Ooh. Ricky Gervais would make a great Doctor.
@fireside, that wouldn’t work, he needs an English accent. Thats pretty vital to the whole doctor thing seeing as he was born in East London…. I mean Gallifrey
@joey: Is it pathetic that I got a bit of nerd rage after East London and it ended once I saw Gallifrey?
As far as I’m aware the Doctor has always been played by a British actor. I think people would riot if an American was chosen. I know I would. And I’m from the US.
@asmonet, not pathetic in the least seeing as i had my only little subtle nerd rage at the mention of Johnny Depp as a Doctor
@asmonet- Actually, David Tenant is Scotish.
Eh, close enough. I forgot he was Scottish, I’m too used to him being all Doctor-y.
Some Scot is going to stab me with a longsword for saying they’re close enough, right? Yeah, I’m dead.
@asmonet – I might do it, and I’m from the US, too. XD
@Macbean: If you need weapons I have over 15 medieval and WWII weapons we can use. Just sayin’.
How about Guy Pearce? I know he’s an Aussie but he is British born.
haha. and he has experience in time travel.
