Can I "reverse sync" my Gmail on Mail.app?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) November 12th, 2008

I have Gmail (IMAP) on Mail.app and I moved a message from my inbox to my All Mail in Mail.app, but when it syncs, that message goes back to my inbox because on ‘mail.google.com’ the message hasn’t been moved into All Mail. Can I ‘reverse sync’ so that whatever I do in Mail.app applies to mail.google.com?

Yeah, if you set up your Gmail to use IMAP, it should sync properly in both directions (unlike POP).

The only sticking point is sometimes it can be tricky getting all the folders synchronized. (For example, on my iPhone, I have two gmail accounts, but only 1 of them sees the “All Mail” folder).

But yes, you can. And it should work just like you want.
