Have you ever got bullied?

Asked by mea05key (1822points) November 13th, 2008

What will you do? Do you think its fair for the stronger to bully the weaker? Or do u accept it as norm? What if the bullying is persistant? Not in school but in work.

Yes, it still goes on in the work place, but the difference is that if you work in an intolerable environment you can always leave…... Well you could until the recent economic crisis anyway.

Sadly, yes. And as a child sometimes I was the bully to those at school. I was compensating – figured that out and put it right. Now in my work life I am not. I’m opinionated and stubborn but I know my limits. Unfortunately, not everyone does, and you get kicked around occasionally by people who didn’t learn the lesson back in middle school.

I don’t think it’s fair, or right. The definition of bullying is persistent harassment, it happens but I would not consider it the norm, nor would I tolerate it after discussing it with the ‘bully’ in question. And I probably wouldn’t discuss it with them until I had carefully considered my part in any interaction that may have occurred and try to honestly assess my own failings that may have contributed to it. If nothing can be fixed through mediation or a meeting…I can always skedaddle.

@seVen: Now, I’m curious. Where are you from?

as an adult I never have, but once as a kid some other kid pushed me down and I knocked him out with a nearby folding chair. I was about 9 and I got suspended for a week. Lol I had forgotten all about that till now

I have never been bullied in the workplace, but I had occasional experiences in school, from both sides of the coin. It all sucks.

@skabeep: I bet it was worth it!

I’m from central Europe aka Poland , spend 3 years of my childhood in Italy than came to US.
Funny, I now realise that I wasn’t bullied that much in Italy than in US.
