Darken highlighting on my mac?

I just got a macbook pro and love it. However, when I highlight text in pdfs or in MS Office software it’s this light blue color that really doesn’t stand out from the white backgrounds. Can I change that?

Apple Menu—> System Preferences—> Appearance—> Highlight Color

You might have to restart some apps for the change to kick in.

also, in the appearance, you can change the overall look of the system too in terms of color, blue or black :)
