If you get the full version of Adobe reader I know that a toolbar is added to IE and I think firefox. On it it has “save as pdf” button that is rather nice.

However I have not heard of Quicksilver, I only know of the file>print>save as pdf.

Ah. I’m guessing you are running Windows. Quicksilver is for Mac. OS X already has the ability to print to PDF, but I find that it just takes too long to actually get to the button that does the trick.

You can use SafariStand to give you a “Save as PDF” option when you right click in Safari. It looks like this.

A note: Installing SafariStand takes a few steps.
1. Quit Safari
2. Install SIMBL
3. Download SafariStand
4. Put SafariStand.bundle in /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/

It isn’t perfect but it is a little faster.

Indeed I am on windows. I know that my computers have print to pdf option, I don’t recall if that is a windows default shrugs

Good luck, johnpowell’s suggestion looks promising.

All applications on a mac can create a PDF. All you have to do is to press print (+P) and then select the PDF-menu in the left-bottom corner of the print dialog. There’s no need for SafariStand or any other plugins.

I want this functionality too. I’m not sure I want to install SafariStand, but maybe it’s worth it. Another option is to try to script this via AppleScript. You could then invoke the script via a system-wide key command or by typing its name in Quicksilver.

I’m looking for a script…

Wow, this is great. The ehmac.ca forums have a couple of sample AppleScript scripts, one of which worked OK, but they came up with a simpler solution.

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to “Save as PDF…” by going to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts. Add a shortcut and write “Save as PDF…” as the menu title. I chose Command-P. It only works if the print menu is already active—so in any program I can hit Command-P twice in a row and get the “Save as PDF…” dialog. I prefer this solution to installing SafariStand, but it’s basically the same amount of work.
