Let’s Stay Together / Al Green
My First, my last… / Barry White ( how can you not love a song that mentions garlic salt?) LOL
“Faithfully,” Journey
“I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore,” REO Speedwagon
“I Will Always Love You,” Whitney Houston
The Luckiest Ben Folds
Chasing Cars Snow Patrol
From No Where to Now Here The Kin
Perfect Moment Tinderbox
Your Moon 4:2:Five
Come rain or come shinexsung by Frank Sinatra. My son and daughter in law had this song as they walked down the aisle. Wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Another good one is ‘do you wanna dance’ sung by betts middler. The way she sings it, she’s not just singing about wanting to dance.
truly madly deply by savage garden :)
Insatiable by darren hayes
I Touch Myself – The Divinyls
pretty much anything by Otis Redding
Jim Croce- I’ll Have to Say I love You in a Song
After watching ‘Hellboy II’ last night, I’m gonna’ have to go with Can’t Live Without You by (gasp!) Barry Manilow!
Here, There, and Everywhere by The Beatles
Sea of Love (I like the newer Cat Power version)
Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman
All of Me (jazz standard)
True Companion by Mark Cohn
Your Song and Love Song by Elton John
Another uncommon choice, but it’s truly beautiful:
You Fill Up My Senses by John Denver
@auggie-
That’s called Annie’s Song.
Father And Daughter – Paul Simon
Here Comes My Baby
Come A Little Bit Closer
Sherry
Burnin’ For You
Beast of Burden
Woman’s Face
Maps
Those aren’t typical love songs, except Woman’s Face by Colin Hay but they’re all about love or romance. I don’t like straight Ode to Hot Chick love songs. Bleh. I like ‘em with a bit more angst.

@Blue, I am really surprised that Stone in Love by The Stylistics is not on your list!
I probably could have come up with more but my brain got fuzzy after listing that many songs. I’ve never heard of Stone in Love but it sounds good and I’m going to check in out on Itunes when I get a chance.
@jonny: Did you mean Oh Girl? Perhaps being in the fluther has you thinking of gils? :)
Hope it makes up for screwing up the name of John Denver’s song up there ^^

Hey There Delilah – Plain White Tees
I just came back here to say no one should post that damn Delilah song.
Damn it.
Too late! I know it was played to death, but the lyrics still make it a great love song!
“Ohhh it’s what you do to me-e-e-e it’s what you do to me.” I LOVE that song.
I’m with asmonet on this one. I can’t stand that song. I mean, it doesn’t sound bad or anything, but once I found out the song had nothing to do with anything or anyone… I was like… Why write it?
WAIT! I thought Delilah was a real person! You mean she’s not? Next your going to tell me that Rosanna isn’t a real person either!
Delilah was a real person, she lives in NY and said once that she didn’t know what to think when the song came on while she was at the gym or in a bar
She was someone he had a crush on in college, or high school (don’t know that much), but she never went out with him and he wrote the song years later about her
Kind of creepy in some ways
@fireside: I swear I read somewhere or heard him say that it wasn’t really about anyone, but I guess I could be wrong. Or it was one of those things where it was loosely based on someone, I think.
@fireside: That’s an awesome site! Thanks for posting! :)
@Fireside you are my hero, you restored my faith in man, or at least my faith in songwriters.
hey, i’m all about restoring faith in men. we get a bad rap.
don’t push your luck, fireside… :)
One of my all time favorites is Young Love by Sonny James. Old old song but so good.
Personally, any of these would work for me. I thought I could think of some more but this list is quite good.
