Anyone know some flash/action script?

I am doing a simple flash project for work. I know some flash but am no expert. Its one of those things that you see on sites now a days that displays an ad and goes to the next and then the next and cycles the 3 (or however many) over and over. I did the whole thing and used a transition effect on the text so it slowly appears from top to bottom. Now here is my problem. I need ad one to pause for awhile so people can read it then go to ad 2 but if I extend the frames the transition effect loops rather then just stays once it is done with the effect. I have looked everywhere and if I use stop as an action the whole thing stops and doesnt move to the next ad. Can anyone help me out, I can send you the file and I am workin in Flash 8 ha. Thanks

BTW if you have no idea what I am talking about, if you go to britneyspears.org you can get an idea of the type of flash animation I am talking about they have a big box at the top of the main page where the news starts, and that is basically what I am doing except with some variations to it of course.
