Is your all Christmas music radio station up and going yet?

Asked by EmpressPixie (14767points) November 18th, 2008

I only listen to this station the rest of the year because around Christmas time it turns into all Christmas music and I LOVE Christmas music. But I honestly think that Nov 1 was a bit early for the switch. Thoughts?

One of our oldies music stations started in on the Christmas tunes in early November here in Phoenix too. I think beginning the Christmas music would have been appropriate AFTER Thanksgiving had come and gone though.

I agree. My law for Christmas stuff was actually Dec 1 and not sooner until I was 21. Then I capitulated to “day after Thanksgiving, I guess”. But now I’m torn: I like the station, I actually don’t know any others in the area, but it’s got the Christmas music too early and I do like the music, so I’m not sure if I should switch it or not.

Obviously, this is very very important. Like, global warming important.

…not sure about the station, but the mall & local stores are totally decorated!! I do love Christmas music though.

I think it should be illegal to publicly play Christmas music until 2 weeks before the holiday. It totally ruins it for me to hear it 6 weeks ahead. Makes me cringe actually.

I haven’t listened to the radio since I started college, but I can tell you I almost threw my girlfriend over the balcony at the mall when I saw Christmas decorations up the day after Halloween.

Christmas before Thanksgiving is one of those things that throws me into a rage. Same time. Every year.

@enzo- Okay, so WHY would you even suggest the idea of throwing your girlfriend over the balcony at the mall? Because of Christmas decorations?!?!

The was there…...

Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

@enzo- hmmm…know what I think seems like a good idea at this time, anger management. Just a suggestion.

The one station that does the ‘round the clock Christmas music, is doing “preview” weekends, until the day after Thanksgiving, then it switches to all Christmas music. It’ a bit early, to me.

We need to go further than this. Christmas trees were up in target at the beginning of September. This is a national crisis we need taken care of right now. I’m going straight to Kevin Rudd!!

My family tradition was to put the Christmas tree up 4 days before Thanksgiving, and we rarely took it down until after January 15th.

I enjoy the Christmas music, and I don’t feel that the beginning of November is too early. My opinion is obviously in the minority, but I figured I’d let it be heard anyway.

I love the holiday feeling, and I especially love it in our home. But when it’s in every store by halloween, it’s almost tedious. I suppose it feels forced upon you whereas in your home, it feels joyous. Suirbel, look at it this way – you make the most of the season!

The day before Haloween we had two stations switch. I would never have known (I only listen to Sirius) but the newspaper was all over it.

@chroma- I’m with ya on that one, 100%! Christmas trees in September?!? WTF?!?
