I'm trying to download Windows Media to my macbook, but i can't open the file!

windows media probly works best on windows
The installer or a WMV file?
Try installing a little thing called Perian. Then QuickTime Player can view WMVs.
If you need to be able to play different formats, my player of choice is VLC
Perian is great, but I don’t think it supports WMV, for that you need Flip4Mac – it’s a free download. Install them both and you can play virtually any video format you’ll find.
Second the Filp4Mac. It works well.
MS stopped building mac support for WM themselves awhile ago. Anything you download recently wouldn’t open by nature, because it would likely be a Windows .exe, most of which OS X cannot understand…
