Where can I find a good homemade BBQ sauce recipe?
I'm tired of the store bought BBQ sauces and I can't seem to find the right combination of ingredients to make my own. Tangy but not too sweet.

Not sure, but I hear baker's chocolate is an important ingredient.
I'd check out mark bittman's exellent cookbook, how to cook everything.
cooks illustrated magazine (or online)--although you will have to pay for these services, or foodnetwork.com. They will have a collection of recipes.
I highly recommend "The Barbecue Bible" or anything printed by Southern Living. I recommend the North Carolina mustard-based sauces or the South Carolina vinegar-based mop sauces for pork, a good dry rub and no barbecue sauce for beef.
crescent dragonwagon's "the passionate vegetarian." no joke.
Just a correction... as one who's lived in both North and South Carolina (not to mention BBQ haven Kansas City), I think you had them backwards. The vinegar style is eastern NC. The mustard-based (which I personally find to be awful, but then I never liked mustard) is most often found in the Columbia area of SC. Western NC and the Upstate area of SC frequently offer a variety, but the standard is more of a tomato-based like you might find in some other areas of the country.
