If you have to eat one of these with your dinner, which will it be, brussel sprouts or spinach?
Honestly, I like them both, but I would opt for the spinach first.

I love brussels sprouts, so I’d certainly eat them first, but am not a fan of cooked spinach. I’ll eat it in a salad, but creamed spinach grosses me out.
I love spinach in a salad. And I hate most vegetables.
It depends. As a side, I’d prefer brussels sprouts. I’m not a huge fan of spinach uncooked and by itself (except for in a salad or something similar), but I love it in a variety of forms, including spanakopita.
Only raw spinach. No brussels sprouts.

Thank you all for your input, I didn’t know there was something called spanakopita, how is that made? I love spinach raw or cooked.
Spinach sauteed with olive oil, garlic, shallots, kosher salt and lemon – then hit with some fresh grated parmesan as soon as it’s out of the skillet.
(Brussels sprouts are great cooked in olive oil, with garlic and pancetta too)

I’m not a huge fan of spinach, but I abhor brussel sprouts.
I have to pick one?? Both! I’m greedy. I love both….but I do like spinach raw or cooked – and in a variety of ways.
sprouts! I love them steamed with butter and lots of salt and pepper. They kill my stomach though.
My husband likes them with the salt, and he adds a touch of vinegar to them. Loves them that way, I am not a pepper nut, but I love my beggies.

I like both, but I’d take Brussels sprouts first.
I like raw spinach in a salad only. I have a life-long hatred of the brussel sprouts…but have been tempted lately to try roasting them.
When I was little, we called them baby cabbages. lol
Spinach salad or cooked and dressed with crumbled bacon. Anything is edible with bacon.

@Augustian I have converted brussel sprout haters by doing this. Cook a slice of bacon in pan. Pour out all the bacon fat except for what coats the pan. Saute the sprouts, season with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper. (Sometimes I splash chicken or veggie stock in there and let it deglaze the pan and steam them for a second) Sprinkle crumbled bacon over. It’s off the hook. Like gg said anything is edible with bacon. One guy told me I gave brussel sprouts a reason to live.
Oh, definitely, I’ll go for both. And feel free to toss in some cauliflower, beets, and turnip, too.

I love brussels. Love them love them so much. Even just steamed plain with butter added at the end. Yum. I use spinach mostly for indian dishes, where it’s pureed and made into almost a sauce. A good recipe is palek paneer, literally “spinach cheese”, which uses the indian cheese paneer.
That’s really hard. I love them both. Ideally with a bit of bacon, then cooked in some bacon grease with shallots.
It I had to choose just one, probably spinach. But only because it is a little easier to cook (I like to chop the sprouts up).
@EmpressPixie: I don’t think I ‘ve ever had them chopped up; what a great idea. Maybe my kids would find them less intimidating that way.
I chop them into slices and cook them in bacon grease with shallots. They are super yummy that way and get tender faster. Then I either add fat free sour cream and use them in pasta topped with cheese or serve them as is.
@MacBean & @bythebay, what a smorgasbord we could dream up! Some mushrooms for the spinach, cheese sauce for the sprouts, butter for the turnip…
Any more nose-wrinkling veggie rejects to love and adopt? Broccoli of course, asparagus (is that a nose-wrinkler?), cooked celery, cabbage?
Cabbage is one I have yet to really enjoy, my mum only ever made cabbage rolls with those and I wasn’t the biggest fan of ‘em. I do like kimchi, but I’ve never thought of making my own.
@Jeruba & MacBean: I’m laughing because I just explained how delicious turnips & rutabagas can be to a woman in the grocery store who proclaimed them both inedible and useless!! All hail the unpopular veggies.
Speaking of unloved veggies, how about squash? Each squash type is a bit different and interesting, yet I don’t hear of people eating it a lot outside Halloween.
I love squash, artichokes, asparagus, rutebegas (in beef stew or pot roast), and cabbage (just sauteed in butter or bacon grease with salt). Just never liked brussel sprouts, but I think people were cooking them the wrong way, so I may give them another try.

I too am a veggie nut, I make a dip for my artichokes with sour cream, powdered aujus, basil, lemon juice, a little pepper, dill, and a touch of salt.
I love asparagus, turnip, celery, cucumber, squash, tomato, lettuces of all kinds, just gimme a veggie tray, and I am happy.
