Types of paintball games?

Asked by FiRE_MaN (684points) November 24th, 2008

are there any fun paintball games that arent really known about? Games that are different then your basic elimination, capture the flag, seige, zombies, protect the president, superman. we, as in my friends and i, were playing 2 weeks ago and couldnt think of anything new. we tried thinking of games on call of duty like domination or search and distroy, but we only have 2 flags. would it be easy to make a briefcase like on call of duty4 to play search and destroy with?

usually when my friend and i play we have about 10 people so no massive player games… but feel free to put them.

San Diego Scooby Doo will be the best game you ever play.

When I went we played outside in a forest, 3 people would go hide in the forest then 3 people would hunt them down, it was really fun and a great way to not waste all of your paintball’s seeing as you could sneak up and take more accurate shots. With 10 people just make it teams of 5 and 5

My absolute favorite game is “Don’t Drop That!”
If you have lots of space to play (100+ acres) this is such a fun game. Have one team drive out into the playing area, they can be any where you feel comfortable with. Then the other team has a tub, a very large tube (4 to 6 feet in length and 1 to 2 feet in diameter) Inside the tube is an egg suspended in 6 directions with straws and cotton siding. Th object of the game is to get the tube from point A to point B with the egg inside intact. You can change up the game by saying the person holding the tube can’t let it touch the ground, get shot, give it to someone else… ext…

Another fun game is “Shoot Cans That Are Colored In A Certain Order” (by the way, me and my friends suck at making up names for our game types) Basically you get yourself 5 to 10 beer cans (the really big ones, like the ones that are a foot tall) not just regular soda cans (as these are really just to small to see and\or hit) Spray-paint them each a bright, vibrant, color. Each one should be a different color. Anyway, one team sets up the cans in the woods, the other team has to destroy them, ether by shooting them or stomping them. The trick is though, it has to happen in a certain order, such as Red, Green, Blue, Pink. But the cans can be set up in any order and in any place. This is a great game cause both teams can totally exercise their team dinamics. For example, the Can Team could all just guard the last can, but the other team could send every single person after each can, one at a time, or split them up.

Another one is “Kick The Can, Not Shoot It”
This one is really awesome because all the other team has to do is Kick The Can as in, a piece of the opposing team’s body must nock the can over. That means they can’t shoot it. I love this game, personally. Only because most people think “I’ll just kill every player and win by default.” So me and my team will move up to the people defending the can and wait, once we see an opening, I have my friend hand me his gun, everyone switches their gun to auto and we let him sprint as fast as he can into the field to hit the can, while we lay down cover fire. Most of the time no one gets hit, but we win because we hit the can. I love being all stealth and sneaking around, then hitting the can when no one is looking.

Another is “AB Game.” If you have a ravine you play near, or tall buildings to sit atop, then this game rocks. Anyone with pump guns, or non-auto guns, sit on top of the ridge, or building, anything higher then the other people. Then the other team gets the best of the best guns, they are in the bottom of the ravine. The point is: The people on top an not move down to the bottom, and the people on the bottom can not move to the top, the people on the bottom have to move from point A to point B, without getting shot. That’s it. We always limit the people on the ridge from going within a certain distance of the starting point, but not the end. I love to watch the boy’s face when they come around the corner and I am standing at the top of the ridge and open fire. I don’t get to see their face for long until it is covered in paint!

Then there is “Flag Paintball.”
Everyone has flags just like Flag Football. Teams can be whatever you want, we usually play everyone v. everyone. But anyway, the point of the game is to scalp your friends and take their flags. Every time you get shot you ether: A) sit down or stand, “dead,” unable to doing anything including talk, or B) give one of your flags to the person who shot you. Basically if you get shot someone from the opposing team can yank your one of your flags. You can’t move until one of your flags are taken by the opposing team, then you move to a “safe zone.”
Another version of this game is “I Shoot You, Now You Work For Me.” If you get shot, you join the opposing team, once everyone is on one team, the game is over.

Then of course you can always play a dual. Our version involves giving both people 10 rounds, setting them thirty feet from each other (further if you are afraid of getting hurt.) Both players put their saftyies on, point the gun at the ground (all the way, as in 90 degrees) and wait. There is a third person, the judge if you will, who is there to call out the game. He says, “Safties off,” then “Ready?” Then, “GO!” However he can say those at any time, ether really fast or really slow, so the people fighting never know when it is going to come. The people can not move more then a foot in any direction, and any hit except to the gun counts as an out. It has to break of course.

Other games include “The Car Keeps Moving Until It Is Shot.” If you have a few cars you take into your game’s field, this is a fun one. Take one car and put one team in the car, or around it. The car can not go faster then 10 mph, the other team has to kill everyone around the car. Any shot to the hood of the car or to the windshield causes the car to halt (obviously it really won’t but it is pretend) The car is paused for some set amount of time, or it has to slow down, something like that. Another way of changing this game up is to put items on the car that can’t fall off or be shot.

One more game type I love to play is “Deactivate The Bucket.” This game is like any other “deactivate the bomb game” but you actually have to deactivate a timed paint bomb. If you don’t you will be showering for days to get clean. The bombs are simple CO2 powered fragment mortars we make. In order to deactivate the bomb, you just have to unplug the CO2, or the timer’s battery, however the bomb is locked inside of something, with the key near by, then inside is the bucket with the bomb under it. You have to remove the bucket and cut a wire underneath, or the bomb will go off, then you have to turn the bomb over, but there is a presser plate that will set off the bomb if moved, then finally pull the tube, or the battery to stop the bomb. The opposing team has a “safe zone” were they start from, and when they get shot, return there and start over again. The game is over when the team deactivating the bomb does that, all get shot, or set off the bomb. If you want to shorten the game you can say the bad guys only have so many life, so after those are used up, they can’t come back.

I have many more game we play, but my wrist is starting to hurt so I’ll add them later.

Also a few notes:
We play on a massive farm with 200+ acres, and we have 5 cars we use as bunkers, plus most people we play with are totally into these types of “complicated games.” We used to play with anyone that wanted to, but that got boring really quickly cause they all wanted to play “Kill or Be Killed.” So a lot of our games involve a lot of rules or preparation.
Also, another note: If you are young (i.e. under the age of 25) please, please, PLEASE, DO NOT MAKE A BOMB! Leave that to professionals.

One last question for you, if you don’t mind:
Where do you guys play? I live in CO and am ALWAYS looking for more players of any age, as long as they can listen to us, and follow the rules.

I live in south nj :[ and when we play we either play in my friends backyard( he has woods back there) or this paintball place called on target.

Ah, okay, well in that case duals would be fun, those are easy and challenging, it doesn’t matter how fast your gun is if you only have 10 round!

Another fun game is Spartans, half the players have shields and are invincible, the other half is not and only has guns. The object is to shoot the ones without the guns. It can get pretty awesomely challenging.

There is of course the classic medic game. Everyone caries a sock, when you are shot, you sit down and put the sock on your gun, disallowing it from shooting (well). If one of your team pulls the sock off, you are back alive, if one of the opposite team pulls the sock off, you are out and they get your ammo\gun (whatever you are comfortable with.)

Another one to try for the hell of it is the two-headed monster. Everyone pairs up, and then you bind the inside legs of both people (like the three-legged race) and then play normally with everyone v everyone else. With the exception of the two people bound together… of course, unless you don’t mention that in the rules, then have fun shooting your friend point blank in the balls! “NO MORE PUBERTY FOR YOU!” Just be careful, as you can cause a lot of injuries, but it is fun!

Another one for target practice is get someone to play the bird, or target, or nubie, or whatever you want to call them, (I prefer “youngest boy who is annoying the most.”) Anyway, you can ether just put ducktape targets on this person, each worth a certain point, and everyone has to shot them, everyone gets 50 round to score the highest. The running target is basically invincible and everyone tries to shoot the targets for points. We have a suite we strap to the person made of plastic glass. The person looks like a pee-cock. You can switch this up and everyone is godmodeing, but every hit counts as a point, at the end of the game, most points wins! Just remember to limit your ammo, or there will be lots of pain and lots of wasted ammo.

If you are into Speedballing or similar games, you can switch up the game by making all the bunkers out of cardboard. If you have ever shot cardboard you will know it can take a fair amount of shots, but it will eventually brake down, allowing balls to go through it. It really makes the game go much faster and much more wild.

Other Speedball games I have played is Longball. You divide the playing field in half, with a large amount of space between the two team sides. Every time you eliminate someone from the other team, your team is allowed to move closer to the other side, eventually allowing you to move among the other teams side.

One more before I go:
Another good game to play with lots of people on a small field is “Put That Stuff Together and Get The Hell Out of Here!” If you have a chance, find one of those 3d wood puzzles, or make your own. Something that is big, but no larger then a coffee can and can easily be put together and taken apart (baby toys work great for this.) Anyway, you take the pieces (try to keep it to a limit of 2–5 for ease of play) and place them around the playing field, one team defends the pieces, one team tries to assemble the pieces and then an optional third team tries to ether A) assemble the puzzle first, or B) screw over everyone on the battle field. Then, once the puzzle is complete, it has to be taken to a “safe spot.” This game is like Capture The Flag, meets President, meets Recovery. The rules of getting out can be whatever you want. We usually play with 2–4 lives each, allowing the game to run for a long time.

I totally forgot to ask you, are you more into Tactical Woods-Ball? Or Speed-Ball?

jtvoar16's avatar

by the way, Don’t ever shot your friend in the balls at point blank range. There is my disclaimer, no more law-suites for me! HA!

hahaha. Woodsball, it’s much less waistefull of paint which is not cheap.

Good, Good.. I am glad. You are very smart! I was under the assumption you enjoyed the better version of paintball, but had to make sure.

Another game I thought of when I was at the movies tonight:
“The Number Of The Beast!”

Each teams draw numbers in secret. Then you (being the assumed leader) chooses a number. That number then becomes the number of the beast, meaning this person (or persons) become the beast, in secret. Anyway, just play a usual game of any sort (capture the flag is the best) and then, at some point, as for your whim, alert the “Beast” to turn into an unstoppable killing machine. We use an air horn. When the horn sounds the person(s) who are the Beast can do anything they want. The only two rules they have to follow are: A) Go insane and try to kill any other Beast you meet no matter what, and B) They are eliminated if shot more then 10 times. Head and chest shots count as 1 and limb shots count as 1/2 a shot.
This can be fun, or crappy, depending on the people you play with.
For example: One time we payed with a bunch of friends and I was one of the beast, anyway, it was my job on the team to get the other teams flag. Half way back to my base, the horn sounded, I immediately turned around and went back towards the enemy base to return the flag. On the way there, I meet the other Beast. We ran into the middle of a field and opened fire, needless to say, so did every other player. In the end, no one had any paint, or any part of their body not bruised. It was SO much fun. Ya, sure we wasted a lot of paint, but sometimes, that is the only way to have fun.

If you have an open field to play in, try loading a hooper full of ammo, then have a dual in the field. You waste so much paint, but god, you feel like Neo from the Matrix… unti you get shot 30 times in the chest from 30 feet. Then you feel more like Mouse, or one of the Agents when Neo goes uber-pissed.
