Question about the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall?

Asked by Sueanne_Tremendous (11290points) November 26th, 2008

In the movie, Peter Bretter goes to Hawaii and chats with his step-brother Brian via webcam. Brian has some kind of program on his webcam that lets him change the backgound scene when Peter views it. It’s almost like Brian is in front of a blue screen and something is being projected on it. The Question: Is there realy a program that allows you to do that?

Did any of that make sense?

iChat lets you do it. Link

Chat from anywhere (or just look like it).
With the new video backdrops built into iChat, you can make it look like you’re chatting from the Eiffel Tower, under the sea, or from the moon. You can also create your own custom backdrops by dragging a picture or video from iPhoto or the Finder into the video effects window. Backdrops even show up on the screens of buddies who don’t have Leopard.

The movie wasn’t totally accurate. You have to step out of the scene for the iSight camera to “remember” the background. (Maybe Brian did that before the chat started.) It then replaces that snapshot with a background image or video. You can load your own video clips as well and appear in front of them.
