What are your thanksgiving plans, traditions?

Asked by shockvalue (5800points) November 26th, 2008

I’m in New York this thanksgiving, all by my lonesome. Boo hoo hoo.
Haha, actually I’m kind of excited.

What do you usually do for Slaughter the Indian’s Day? I’ll probably just steal all your ideas. Otherwise, I’m thinking about trying to ride one of the gargantuan floats in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Maybe I’ll see you at the parade, shockvalue ! I’m going to pop the turkey in the oven, and we are heading for the city first thing in the morning. By the time we get back, it will be time to eat.

I was in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade way back in 1983. As for this year , we are going to my mom and dad’s for an awesome
Thanksgiving lunch. I can’t wait. We look forward to this lunch all year!

My parents, brother, and I (too bad my sister is in Italy _) are actually making turkey dumplings tomorrow! We never made turkey dumplings before sooo I guess we’ll see how it turns out. :P

No traditions, anymore…it varies from year to year. This year we are having a small, early dinner at our house with my husband’s 2 grown sons and one of their girlfriends. Hubby is cooking dinner, I made the pies.

@mzgator: “an awesome thanksgiving lynch”!?!?!? Oh god!!!!

Well, I guess technically it is an American tradition. ...that and the gift of small pox-laden blankets.

I have a house full coming, so I’ll work from sun up to sun down – bit I am very grateful for my family & friends. Enjoy your day, whatever it may bring—and no need to slaughter any more indians!

I leave some really sucky people at college and come home to lots and lots of food, which is followed by much much sitting on my ass. :P
