So I did my own research. Tonight, November 28th, the planets Venus and Jupiter will be aligned and visible in the southwestern sky.
Tromnabular VI and the lagoon world of Sypho.
Depends on where you live.
Also depends on your definition of aligned.
You can draw a lie between any two points at any time.
lol, guess so.
i blame it on my mother never sending me to typing class
Scroll down on the Sky & Telescope link to see the map of Venus, Jupiter and the waxing moon tonight and tomorrow at dusk in the US 48.
”...... a close pairing of the two brightest planets, Venus and Jupiter. On November 30th and December 1st they’ll be separated by only about the width of your finger held at arm’s length. (edit: 2.4˚ of arc.)
And on the evening of December 1st, skywatchers in the Americas will see the crescent Moon joining the two planets to make a remarkably compact celestial triangle.” ”
Remember that you need clear skies w/o large amounts of ambient lights. That means either living in or driving to the country.
Rats. Cloudy tonight and snow/sleet/icy rain predicted for tomorrow. I hope someone somewhere has good viewing.
We’ve had cold nights and high winds here lately – they were so bright tonight!
@#Dave; could you see the sliver of waxing moon that set at sunset? I envy you your sighting. Here it will snow and rain for 24 hrs.
I went out late and only saw the stars, no moon.
If I can find my camera battery charger I’ll take a picture tonight if it stops snowing.
@ gail: I did, it was a “fingernail” moon – very very bright against the twilight sky, just the barest sliver of silver. Beautiful!
Dave; Arrgh. Rain and snow and damp and nasty here. I am jealous.
It’s raining slush here tonight.
