Why no egg nog latte at Starbucks this Christmas?
Egg nog latte’s are one of the highlights of the holiday season for me and Starbucks has let me down.

If I had to guess, I would say that it’s because eggnog is VERY expensive. In order to cut back on costs some places cut eggnog with a lot of milk. The evil empire hasn’t been doing very well financially, so maybe they’re just trying to stay afloat by cutting out some costly items.
Why not go to a smaller local cafe? Every cafe I have ever worked in has made seasonal drinks that can knock the socks off of a Sbucks drink. You’ll not only be supporting a local business, but you’ll also enjoy a drink made by an artisan… not a chump that knows how to press a button to make some instant coffee drink.
We have it at ours. Perhaps you could duck into another cafe?
Have you tried ordering it even though it’s not on the menu? It can’t hurt to try.
We make them at home by brewing the coffee extra string then using Egg Nog instead of milk… it’s not a true “latte”, but still very yummy!
Yeah, we have them here as well.
Here is the recipe. Apparently, S’bucks uses store-bought egg-nog. I have no idea about the accuracy of this info. The recipe looks fine, however. (NO strings attached :-O )
I wonder if they have just “plain nog” for those who are allergic to eggs.
I have been to several branches but none seem to have it, admitedly they’re all in the UK so maybe that’s it.
It’s my bet that you could still get it if you ordered it, unless of course there is some big egg nog shortage in the UK I hadn’t read about.
Blech. I’ll buy one and mail it to you.
@gail- Good find! That’s almost exactly how Starbucks makes it (the only difference is that 2% milk is used by default).
The eggnog latte is available at all North American locations, as far as I know.
According to a couple forums, there will be no eggnog lattes in the UK stores until December. (So if you get a chance, check in stores tomorrow).
I never knew there was such a difference between the drinks available in different countries, even at Christmas time. It seems the UK gets something called a “Dark Cherry Mocha”, which I’ve never heard of, and a “Toffee Nut Latte”, which is available year-round in the US and Canada. Also, the “Gingerbread Latte” has been renamed the “Gingersnap Latte” here in Canada (with a slight difference to the recipe).
Well of you like that you should see the differences between McDonalds in the US and the UK. Here they have managed to take any American fast food virtues (the speed with which your food is delivered, for example) and carefully remove them; your food arrives after half an hour, at room temperature, and it is only because of the strip of warm lettuce between them that you can distinguish the burger from the bun.
@Lightly; and you are eating that because? (You did make me laugh.)
I think we have that at the ones here! Sorry you don’t, they’re one of my favorites this time of year!
