How do you adjust the settings on the iPhone to extend battery time?

I know that if you turn the brightness down, the iPhone battery will go longer between charges. Does anyoneknow what other settings to adjust to extend the time between charging the battery?

You could also turn off 3G under network settings. The 3G really gobbles up the battery. Your internet browsing while not on WiFi will be considerably slower, though.
I’m not sure where to find the 3g. I looked in settings but didn’t find it. Also, I have the original phone, not the newer version if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your help.
I did find the network settings and everything there is turned off. But I’m not sure what the 3g thing is.
As you can tell, I’m technology challenged so I appreciate the tip.
The original iPhone doesn’t have 3G so you can’t turn it off.
Nevermind, 3G is a feature of the newer phone. There probably isn’t much else you can change, other than the frequency with which email is checked. The less frequently, the more battery.
I turn off Bluetooth when I know I won’t me using my car for a while. I turn off WiFi if I’m out and about, so it’s not looking for a signal, and I never have “Ask to Join Networks” on because it wastes a lot of battery and is annoying, too.
I turn off Location Services too—but I’m not sure how much impact it has on battery life.
Thanks for all of your help! I appreciate the information.
To save battery life you can turn off bluetooth, wifi, Push email, 3G, and location services (the last two are only available on iPhone 3G).
To change these settings, here are some instructions cribbed from Mike Davidson:
Wifi: Settings > Wifi > Slide wifi slider to off
Push Email: Settings > Fetch New Data > Slide Push slider to off
Location Services: Settings > General > Slide Location Services slider to off
Bluetooth: Settings > General > Bluetooth > Slide Bluetooth slider to off
3G: Settings > General > Network > Slide Enable 3G slider to off
@Bob:
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention Push and Fetch!
Location Services is available on the original iPhone… it uses your WiFi or triangulates from cell towers.
Thanks again for all your help!
Maps and the iPod feature drains your battery quick. or any app with music in it. try to minimize that usage and you should be fine
