What is rss? I always wondered..
RSS is a format in XML (a document markup language) that is used primarily for blogs, news websites, or other websites with frequently updated content. With an RSS feed, one only needs a news reader: a dedicated reader such as FeedReader or GreatNews works fine; or, there are implementations in existing Mail or Newsgroup software, such as Thunderbird, or extensions to Firefox like Sage or Feedly. Finally, there also various online readers, such as Google Reader. Utilizing one of these you can view feeds.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.
@adri027 Basically it’s usually a list of something that gets updated regularly. It might be subjects on a blog, or TV listings or whatever. The list is formatted in a standard way so that RSS readers can interpret them. They can include images, web links and text. If you read blogs then you should check them out.
My list, Lifehacker, Makezine, BoingBoing The Register, and a mashup of various gadget blogs I made with Yahoo Pipes.
