If you don't have the benefit of "textile", how do you indicate sarcasm when typing?

I know there are ways to emphasize etc., but I don’t know how. I did a quick search to no avail.

Most of us on Fluther use the tilde. Sort of an informal rule that popped up. :)
This squiggly thing: ~
Usually after sentences, like so.~
You can find a list of the accepted markup here!
/incoming sarcasm in 3…2…1…:
”insert sarcasm”
(That’s how I do it.)
@jt: You reminded me, sometimes I say ”/sarcasm” at the end of the post or sarcastic line. I play WoW, picked up most of my /whatevers there. Especially my /wrists. Say it out loud.
I always forget about the ~ and usually end up making a ‘winking face’ ; )
Thanks you guys, I forgot about the tilde. jtvoar, I love it!
@asmonet:
I love /wrist. I use that all the time. My guild made shirts, everyone got a photo of their (at the time, maxed out lvl. 60) character, and put their names and /wrist, on the back of the shirt. We played on one of the first-ever PvP servers, so naturally, it was all Hord (We were, of course, Aly) and always had to help defend ether Southshore or that dumb Aly village in Ashenvile Forest. I think our guild might have been the reason for /wrist, because a lot of the people in our guild came from EQ (if you know what that is, then you totally know how old we are talking here. And I mean, old school EQ, like where lvl. 50 was the cap, and none of the expansions were even a dream, at that point!) And at one point, some of the developers on the test servers (at that time, they were actually for testing not just getting to play the next version of the game before your friends did ah, the old days!) had a command, /wrist, which, when you typed it in, would ether kill your character or reduce it’s life by half (and in EQ, that meant instant death!)
So we would also try that command whenever we got into a bind, or /pizza wasn’t working, just to spice things up.
God! I miss /faint so much! I love doing that and then moving around the world as a corpse!
There is also the POV that using language cleverly will get your humor or irony across. Sarcasm is cheap and lazy amusement, for me at least.
I know Gail. However for one, not as gifted in that department, I had to resort to crutches. In this case, I had to be certain that the reader would not think I was serious. It was too good to take out.
@Soap: Please link to your sarcastic post…I’m now dying to see it!
Omigosh, Augustian, I can’t! For you, I would love to share, but I would never be able to show my face on Fluther again!
It’s all in the weave. Tongue in cheek, with a fine brandy next to the keyboard. Ha!!
Perhaps a bit old fashion though.
