Why would a candle refuse to light?

I bought a group of 8 identical candles all at the same time. They all burn brilliantly, except for one. That one sputters and sizzles whenever I hold the flame to its wick, but it will not catch for more than a few seconds and refuses to burn. What’s up? Is it cursed?
