How to stop an infection from bleeding?

Asked by crunchaweezy (1733points) December 5th, 2008

Long story short, my cheek swelled up 3 days ago, I went to the doctor and received Augmentin XR – a dosage of two 1000mg pills every 12 hours.

Now, it’s gotten smaller and no longer swelled up like before, yellow fluids where coming out earlier – but now it’s just blood.

I’ll be going back to school and want to stop it from bleeding, other than putting a band-aid on it, what else could I do? thanks :)

Shouldn’t it be bleeding, to keep getting out the infected parts?

Yes, but how can I delay the bleeding so it won’t bleed during school hours?

I don’t think it should be bleeding that much… not enough that you should be worrying about it still bleeding at school. Keep the band-aid on it, it keeps things out and keeps things in. Much better that way. It’s just a band-aid.

Styptic pencil. Look near mens razors at the store.

New-Skin (Liquid Skin) comes in a little bottle with a brush like fingernail polish. My hands get dry and crack in the winter then bleed. I just used it and the bleeding has already stopped. It last for days. They use a superglue type liquid in the ER. Don’t use superglue.

Styptic pencil is a great, old-time invention.

Pressure should stop bleed, so should hydrogen peroxide. Are you finishing the augmentin, and keeping your hands off of it. Resist the tempation to touch it.

I’ve got enough for 10 days worth – 4 pills a day – 40 pills total.

Where can I find “New-Skin”?

Walmart, Walgreens, most anywhere that sells that kind of stuff.

Does it give me new skin? lol

Yes. And best of all, it is clear and colorless so nobody will see it on your face. You might want to call your doctor and ask him if it’s OK. You shouldn’t use it on a big, gaping wound. What caused the wound?

new skin and similar brands are harsh and basically can be compared to clear nail polish which is why i wouldn’t recommend it for your face.it burns. consult your dr.
