Can I put the new iPod software on my old iPod?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) December 5th, 2008

The new iPods have that sofware where the album artwork is split with the main menu—are there any hacks where I could put that on my old 30gb iPod?

I follow that kind of thing pretty closely and I haven’t heard of anything. You can always start from scratch and just hack it yourself but other than that I don’t believe so.

No you cant.
Some i hack, i think RockBox had a theme that did many of the things the new software did tho.

Yes, you can – why people answer ‘no, you can’t’ without knowing for sure is beyond me!

Edit: Arg, the link on LH is broken. There’s another tutorial here that links back to the iPod 5G to iPod classic FW hack.

because you can’t. this is a modded firmware, not the one apple created. it’s a clone.
Ex. it doesn’t support CoverFlow
