How can I keep my wood laminate flooring in good condition?

My new house has wood laminate flooring. I have cats that absolutely love to run and slide; it’s actually really funny and cute. Problem is I’m renting and the floor is brand new.
Keeping my cats’ nails trimmed is obvious. What else can I do? Any good products someone can recommend?

From what I understand it is important to keep sand and grit off it, so a daily dustmopping would be a good idea.
Additionally, http://ezinearticles.com/?Caring-for-Laminate-Flooring&id=304688 says the same thing (dry mop it daily), and use a damp, not wet mop, to clean sticky messes because excess water is not kind to laminate. Also pick up and do not drag furniture across it. You don’t need to wax it or do anything to the surface other than keep it clean.
Umm…what about the cat claws?
Keep them trimmed or get those little caps put on them. Or teach them to run like crazy and then jump onto throw rugs – the sliding is much more fun (I had one cat that used to do that, but she never noticed the wall coming up fast)
I got a product that looks just like wood but is really ceramic tile. I LOVE IT!
