Why is Spotlight showing all this?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) December 8th, 2008

This is a pic of a Spotlight search I was doing. Why is the same doc repeated with different numbers beside them? What are the numbers? Can I change something to where Spotlight will only show it once?

I think that’s spotlight finding the search query multiple times within those files and showing the line numbers. I’m not sure if you can tell it to not search inside files…

hum, interesting.

Do you use any kind of versioned backup software?

You might be looking at file contents instead of file names.

I hovered over the Spotlight results and it was searching my Gmail Inbox attachments from Mail.app, even though I have that unchecked in my Spotlight preferences AND I don’t even have those in my inbox anymore. Interesting..
