I keep it simple: mustard and ‘kraut. Vegetarians, feel free to chime in as well with your tofu dogs, and other such nonsense! I kid, I kid!

Read the ingredients (and weep). Try chicken sausage (known as snausages in my family) if you must eat animal protein.
mustard, ketchup and (sweet) pickle relish
toasted bun, melted cheese, and ketchup (tofu pup only please!)
shredded cheddar cheese, tomatoes, mustard
Well-done. As for toppings, it varies on my mood: Sauerkraut 90% of the time; some days I like it spicy with hot mustard and onions; some days I like a sweetness with ketchup and sweet relish; some days I want a sloppy chili-cheese dog. Mmmm…
..any other Southerners out there like the “slaw dog”?
Two veggie dogs for me – one with ketchup, mustard and pickle relish, and the other with mustard and sauerkraut. Making me hungry just thinking about it…
Wait hold the phones! Has anybody ever had a loaded LUCKY DOG from the streets in New Orleans( Burbon Street has the best). It is the best meal you can have. Yes, I have eaten at all of Emeralds reastraunts in NOLA, August, Riche’, Commanders Palace, Prudhommes but man it’s street food exceptional’. This is it…a footlong dog grilled to perfection with chilli, cheese, onions, mustard, mayo, ketchup, relish wrapped in a bun… you have to try one if ever in NOLA.
I’ve had much experience with the Lucky Dog. It’s the best/worst idea ever when you come stumbling out of a bar at 4am.
oh the late night lucky dog…...
chili cheese with mustard and onions is the best combo for me.
tummy…..I want a Lucky Dog right now! If you have never had one….you are really missing a great experience! FYI…..you will need lots of napkins. My hubby once paid 8 bucks on the streets of NOLA for a Lucky Dog for me when I was pregnant and craving one! They’re great, and he,a great too!
Wow….that was supposed to say Yummy not tummy. It was also supposed to say he is great too.. Sorry about the typos.
don’t worry about typos…I am the master of typos. We know what you meant.
@mzgator; tummy is a perfect Fr. slip, contextually. And your husband must be one terrific guy, since you are comparing him to a Lucky Dog, about which everyone has been waxing so poetic. And gooch is right.
I do note that LD contains all the important daily food requirements; sodium nitrate, salt, animal protein, sugar, fat, white flour, dairy, egg yolks..of course, there are tomatoes, pickles, ‘kraut, chili, and onions for balance. Missing, however, are nicotine and caffeine.(Joking)
For those w. GERD, LD must be less than blissful,
