How many email accounts do you have?

I have five email accounts. As I was going through and checking them, I wondered why the hell I have so many and if everyone else has that many. I have two that are my personal/friend type accounts. One I use for my kids’ various news from teachers, coaches, etc. One is strictly work email. One is what I use when I sign up for anything online. That’s ridiculous, and I’m thinking of deleting at least two.

I have 5, but I have them all forward the mail to my main gmail. I have school, personal, registration and work email accounts that all forward into one, massive main account.
3, work, personal/ family only, personal/friends (family has it too).
@Eambos, how do you set that up?
One main, and one yahoo for spam/registrations, which I also use for fantasy hockey
I have one to manage the beta of an application we’re about to launch, one personal MobileMe email account, and an @fluther.com account for all my “moderation needs”. The app beta account forwards copies to MobileMe, but with the amount of email I get to the Fluther account I’m not going to be forwarding any time soon.
I have at least 10, but most of them redirect to 3 accounts.
I have:
Hotmail
Gmail
Yahoo mail
School email
University email
Work email
Domain name email
ISP included email
MobileMe email
And a few other that I can’t remember. But I don’t use many of them at all.
I have one and Fluther. I have no life as it is…I can’t imagine adding any more.
I have a total of five email accounts.
Gmail, hotmail, AIM mail (I suppose because it comes with my screenname), and school mail.
Four. I use two. One school and one personal.
I used to have 5 or 6 but it was getting silly.
I’ve recently paired down to 2.
Work: for the day job.
MobileMe: for freelance work, teaching, and personal.
Three, one for each domain I maintain.
im only 14 but i have 2—-> one for nonformal and one for improtant stuff. Like if i were giving the president my email i would give the important one you know what i mean? i will get more in the future though
One for me (for everything), and one for my husband’s job search. He doesn’t do email, and my username didn’t sound professional enough…so I made up a new one just for that.
I had 2, personal and professional, but now I have a work email, and I just got a gmail account which I plan to make my primary email.
Three; one for personal, one for school, and one for junk mail.
I don’t know. At the moment I don’t even know how many domains I have. But (not counting the one at work) I actually use only two. Well, maybe three or about seven.
have 4 accounts. 3 for work and my gmail. I forward everything to gmail because it is faster than my work accounts and does not have a limit. I get about 30 emails a day. 6 of which I need to read. Gmail makes it easy to skip the crap mails that I don’t need to read.
I have no idea! I used to collect them. I even had one @weeklyworldnews.org
One at work. One at home.
I have three accounts in total, but two of them simply forward to my Gmail account and are put in the right place thanks to filters.
-school (the one the school gave me)
-personal
-personal//only for school stuff
-“backupfiles” account
i usually only use 2 out of the 4 emails.
I have one main Gmail i use for everything. Then i have a Yahoo Ymail account that i use to push all my emails to my iPhone.
Two free
plus one work
plus two personal
plus one admin
that I can think of.
Of those, I now only reference the work and one of the free (gmail).
Like already mentioned by others, I have my two personal now rolled into gmail. The others I ignore at my peril.
I only pull 9 accounts that I ever check. Technically I can have an infinite number of email accounts.
Gmail, which is my personal.
I have a yahoo which my grandma likes to spam for forwards.
Another yahoo for signing up for things, like fluther, facebook, etc.
Hotmail so I can use msn messenger, which is rare.
How do I get my other accounts to push to my Yahoo or Gmail account on my iPhone?
The way i have it setup is i have my gmail account forwarded to the yahoo and then it gets pushed. Under setting in Gmail you can have it forward.
Why does everyone have so many accounts? Whenever I’ve made a new one, I just notify people of the new address, and ignore/cancel the old. Is there a benefit to having more than say, two?
Oh I forgot my Hotmail one, that makes four accounts. And all the email addresses I have with my web domains, although I don’t actually use those. I have one from when I was a kid, more than 99% of it is spam but it’s worth filtering through Gmail for that 1% of goodness. It’s been used all around the internet and for a magazine subscription. Why bother changing it if my forwarding works fine, is my thought. I have one from my university that is a lifelong account, again forwarded to Gmail. I have my main Gmail one that most people know is my main one. And I have my Hotmail one that I only use for MSN Messenger, which gets spammed by Microsoft itself.
There is one benefit to having many – I can use one of the aliases that forwards to my Gmail account instead of giving out my Gmail address and the message will still get to me. This is handy for signing up to sites that want your email address. But other than that I don’t see an advantage.
@augustlan…
Free accounts – you should have at least one. They’re free, somewhat reliable, and often with plenty of space. The domain suffix is instantly recognizable, not requiring you to spell it (like me [at] tx [dot] rr [dot] com or some such crap). If nothing else, get one for those cases where you want anonymous email, for signing up for free offers or trying some new web site service. Or for negotiating that bank transfer with Nigerian nationals.
Personal accounts – for many folks, this is probably the email that their ISP gives them. That sucks. Get a new ISP and you gotta announce email change. – OR – Some of us establish our own domain names and get email sent to those. They’re ISP independent and you can add your personal flair. Like: robmandu [at] robmandu-is-awesome [dot] com.
Work account(s) – self explanatory.
Admin account(s) – not dissimilar from a work account. I make the distinction because
I like for emails sent to the “administrator” of the domains I personally own to have their own mailbox.
I have three email accounts… I remember when I first came on the interwebs at the vulnerable age of 12 I tried to collect as many as I could! I have about 100 :(
