How do I make this a document template?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) December 9th, 2008

I have a few specific document settings (margin lengths and tab lenths, font, and size) and I don’t want new documents automatically having them, I just want to be able to pick that setup when I’m writing that kind of document.

On the Format Menu, click Document, click the Margins tab, then set the margins you want. After you set the margins click Default to have Word save the settings in the template. (the blank page that opens when you click new document is considered a template.)

also…I’m not sure whether or not Word has the macro feature like Excel…but I’ve made a macro to add headers and footers, adjust my margins, and everything each time I’m ready to print a document.

But like PupnTaco said, make the necessary adjustments to the font and everything, and save it as something like “template for TimesRoman format”, and make sure it’s in the template file extension.
