Is it snowing where you are?
It’s freaking snowing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana today. Driving around town a little this morning felt like I was in another country…I haven’t seen snow here in around 8–9 years.

I’m in Ottawa, Canada, so the obvious answer is a resounding YES! Actually at this very moment it is not snowing, which is a surprise. We had a snowstorm during the past few days that dropped about 30 centimeters of snow on us. Oh, and the transit service is striking as of this past Wednesday 12:01AM, so traffic which was already multiplied x4 due to winter storm (the usual multiplier for winter traffic is x2 that of summer traffic), is now given a further multiplier of x4 (not only more cars, but more pedestrians) for a total multiplier of x16, resulting in a “dangerous and stupidity” rating this morning of A+. I’m not driving unless I have to. I admit it’s not as bad as the Ice Storm back some years ago, but anyone who voluntarily drove in that was crazy and had a death wish.
The highway was jammed at 7am this morning. 7am. They’re usually not jammed till 8. It took me 60+ minutes to drive into work instead of the 8 minutes it does in the summer. Time to telework!
No. And it better not, either. We are trying to get one of these bad boys off the ground here, and I’d really like to do it tomorrow rather than over the weekend.
i wish it was snowing!!! <3 snow
Ugh, snow sucks. Have all of it, skabeep. Damn near froze my hands off this morning while inflating my tires, since the pump handle was covered by snow and thus freezing cold.
I’m in Chicago. If it isn’t right now, it will be soon. We’ve definitely got winter cover down—won’t see the ground again until Spring. Um, I love it.
Severe ice storm starting. That means power outages so we are all making soup, showering, flushing the toilet for the last time, blessing our land lines and running to town for food, candles, batteries, kindling and books. Just another ho-hum day in the hill towns near the Berkshires.
Milo went out this AM and all four paws slid out from under him.
edit: And my only goal of the day is to get to the dentist’s and back up my luge run driveway.
Poor Milo. Willow would not like that at all, no ma’am. Not one bit.
@Empress: M was outside for approximately a nanosecond.
It’s raining and 70 degrees here in North Carolina. I just went to donate at the Red Cross in a t-shirt.
actually, it’s been super sunny the last 3 days :)
It snowed here in Lafayette, Louisiana this morning. Enough snow accumulated so that Hailey, Winston, Troy and I could make a snowman. It never snows here. We were on top of the world taking pictures and playing in the snow. It was great! It made me feel like a kid. We have been in snow before on vacation in other states, but to have it snow here was great!
@mzgator
Ah, someone from Lafayette! I have family there.
Who’s your mamma, are you Catholic, and can you make a roux?
lol
No snow today! However, we are already ahead of last winter’s record pace. I think we’ve gotten 11.5 inches so far. Only about 100 inches more that’s what she said to break the record.
Oh, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in case you wondered.
Rain, rain and more rain here today…looking for a little snow on Friday. Martinsburg, WV
I am in CA and it is not snowing here, but it is super foggy which I love because it feels like winter without the mess of snow.
No snow in AZ but I am moving back to Ohio in a month so I am going to enjoy my time without snow. haha
No!! it never snows in Bahrain
actually its summer in here now
@Jamilia!
Oh Bahrain, sounds super cool!
its snowing hard where i live
It is freezing rain here.. I rolled down my window and there was another window of ice outside of that! I got out of the car and busted that in gone in sixty seconds style- pretty cathartic.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona and we’re not exactly sure what snow is. Could someone post a link or a picture explaining it? And we barely know what rain is also for that matter. Moisture and southern Arizona don’t mix. :o)
@ bluefreedom I feel ya! I’m up in Prescott and we get a little more than you but not much!
Prescott is a great community. I travel up there a few times each year to get away from the hectic big city atmosphere in Phoenix. It’s nice to meet a fellow Arizonan here on Fluther!
So’m I !!!! Let’s all join hands and dance in a circle!
Wait; let me get my ice skates.
@ bluefreedom well I am not truly an Arizonian I moved up here and am living with my brother and sister and law, who are both on fluther, for a bit and then it’s back to Ohio until August when I am moving out to San Diego, I believe but what the future holds I don’t know haha. but yes Prescott is very nice but a bit boring for a younger person haha. It’s like and an old person retirement community. It’s nice to visit but I definently couldn’t live here for long…
definently: I had give up all hope. Thank you, madcapper. (I loved Prescott; the hiking and the birds were wonderful.)
We are preparing for at least 1” of ice on everything. That means fallen branches and power outages.
Gail’s weather is my weather, too. Ahhhh, winter is finally here.
MacBean; Bite your tongue. I may be up at 3:00AM stoking a wood-burning stove, an activity that was more fun ten years ago. We seem to be hit harder on our side of the river. Maybe it is because we are hilly and near the Berkshires.
It will be by morning! I hope not too much, though. A light dusting is good enough for me.
Unfortunately. I hate winter with a great passion. I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the infastructire sucks, the snow removal services are extremely expensive, there’s always a mad rush for snow tires, window scrapers, shovels, etc… and businesses take advantage of this, the STM (societe de transport de montreal) is a lazy ass company where the workers constantly go on strike and are the rudest people on earth, trees fall regularly because of the ice, last year the water in my fish’s bowl froze, water manes break all the time, the electricity goes out (we use hydro in Quebec 100%), in the spring you cannot step on the street without lurching into a pothole. I have many other complaints, but if you love the snow, come to Montreal for the bitterest winter ever.
Summary
@madcapper, where in Ohio are you moving?
It didn’t snow! whew, that was close…
@ alfred I am moving to Columbus, near the Dublin area
Aaargh! Update: the ice didn’t stop all night Thursday. I just got power back – electricity is not overrated! I never saw it rain trees before…
