Do you also close the door when no one's home?

Asked by omfgTALIjustIMDu (9293points) December 11th, 2008

I tend to close the door while I’m peeing even if no one’s home. I guess it’s out of habit, but I always do it. Do you leave the door open or still close it when no one else is around?

I don’t really bother shutting the door, even when someone is home. Numero dos, however, is a whole different story.

I always leave the bathroom door open when I’m alone in the house. One of our five cats will occasionally saunter by and take an interest in my urinating for a few seconds and then move on.

Not since I had a kid.

No I leave the door open when no one is home, but that is a rare occasion. I use the bathroom off of my master bedroom where my children are not allowed in. So only my wife can enter but if she is not there why shut the door. It is kind of freeing in a home of four females when you are the only male!

I usually shut it when I’m alone. For some reason, if I’m in a big hurry I sometimes leave it open to pee. Anything else, and I don’t care if I’m alone or not…the door gets shut!

Only if there’s a draft.

Blue: My cat walks by and comes in sometimes, too. Kind of like an “I don’t care what you’re doing. I’ll go where I please” thing.

I leave it open when I’m alone.

I close it because someone might come home anytime!

@Allie – Don’t you just love that about cats? Not a care in the world but chock full of ‘attitude’ whenever and wherever it suits them. :o)

I always close it, even when home alone. Mainly because of my cat! If I wanted an audience, I would have left the door open! Now, we have a big, slightly dumb dog (seems to be improving in the dumb category), she’ll watch too. Just creeps me out, a bit!

I used to be really paranoid about it, but not anymore. I like to be able to leave it open. For example I’d rather leave the door open and keep the fan off when I’m having a shower than have to shut the door and use the fan because it’s so freezing when I get out.

Blue and Allie, my cats do that too :P

I always close it. Because someone could come home at any moment! When I’m at my house, I live alone and still close it. Out of habit, I think.

I don’t close bathroom doors ever. Not really sure why.

syz's avatar

Nope.

Knotmyday's avatar

I do. I lock it, too.

My rationale (I really have one) is that if a family member come back into the house, I’m good to go. And if a prowler breaks in while I’m…occupied, it’ll buy me enough time to pull up the trou, break the toilet-plunger stick off into a sharp point, climb up on the sink near the door and prepare for ambush by leaping Rambo-style upon them from above.

Really.

@Knotmyday: That made my day!

@Knotmyday: You ROCK out loud!! That was great!

I leave the door open. My dog used to paw it and whine like she was missing out on something going on in there, so she trained me to leave it open.

Nimis's avatar

Oh! I just thought of another deciding factor.
I’ll close the door if I can’t reach it from the toilet
(and wouldn’t be able to close it if someone came home).
