@mad- well, funny thing is I think I consider myself a music snob, and I’ve never heard of the bands you named. Sad! I love punk, too! Maybe I’m just getting old! lol!

haha well I am kind of a music snob too so I am sure you have listened to bands I haven’t. So in the vein of punk which is all I used to listen to Star Fucking Hipsters are hard ska punk, singer from Leftover Crack, but a new female singer in this band and I am loving it! Bad Astronaut is still kinda punk but a softer band form the lead singer of Lagwagon, great skate punk band, but different and great all the same. No longer around cause the other guy killed himself :( Klaxons and Innerpartysystem are electronica style bands which I have been feeling…

@mad- NICE! Thanks, I like it!! I hate the radio. So on my ipod right now I have artists like Bjork, Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, Ben Harper, System Of A Down, Paul Simon, MC Solaar, Gogol Bordello, Moby, Cake, Jack Johnson, Beck, Prodigy, etc..

@ chica being eclectic I will say Beastie Boys, BOB MARLEY!, SoaD, Paul Simon, Prodigy are all very good bands/ artists! check out the artists i listed and perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised! you seem too have a very good taste in music so I hope you keep trying new artists! Honestly one of my favorite things to do is to find new bands I like! haha maybe it’s my lack of musical talent but my need of music to go along with my artistic talent! oh and so what’s up with MC Solarr and Gogol Bordello because I have never heard and will prob check out..

@mad- Will do! LOVE SKA!! Okay, so MC Solaar is a French rap/hip-hop artist, and his stuff is TIGHT! Love his album Prose Combat. Gogol Bordello is a Gypsy punk band out of NYC. They’re a trip! www.gogolbordello.com

@ jamjar I am hoping I can se them but they pretty much play around NYC so lets ,for both of our sakes, hope they travel elsewhere! Honestly they will most likely go to the UK before where I am, the States suck for punk, so I hope you see them!

I used to listen to purely Classic Rock, then I kind of moved on to a Hardcore/Screamo type of music, now I listen to a large variety of genres, including Hip-Hop, Rap, Hardcore, Metal, Classic Rock, Pop Punk, and Punk.

Listening to a combination of Roisin Murphy and Joe Bonamassa right now.

At the moment I’m loving digable planets, a tribe called quest, mc5, portishead, ccr, atmosphere, maldita vecindad, Janis Joplin, freestyle fellowship, caifanes, muddy waters, bubble puppy, and perez prado there’s way more but you guys get the jist of it : ).

I’m just getting really into Ratatat at the moment. I also recommend you look into some;

Ive been loving Justice hardcore lately. Especially their new live cd, they’re one of those groups thats 10x better live

A couple things I’ve been turned onto recently (not new bands, but new to me), both kind of harder edged music:

The Sword – Sounds a lot like vintage (Ozzy era) Black Sabbath

Puya – Rap infused Spanglish metal, sounds like if you threw Coal Chamber, Cypress Hill and Helmet in a blender.

Apparently your into rock style I’m big on that myself and I have to say the best is if you go back in time try some Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Metallica, Iron Maiden these are all really good rock bands and if your looking for something new style try System of a Down

oh sorry for not getting back… but yes. I did enjoy MC Solaar. Gogol Bordello did not hit the spot for me but thanks for the band advice! I ddi like the MC Solaar so I will be listening in the future! Thanks again!

So, if you’re into heavier music, and you end up liking The Sword, I’d highly recommend checking out Kyuss….might be hard to get hold of some of their stuff, most their albums are out of print. I’d also recommend The Melvins if the Sword does it for you.

i’ve always loved these guys, but right now i’ve got these 4 musicians i can’t turn off. i wouldn’t call it a phase, but it’s been a time of increased obsessiveness haha.
