Did anyone lose power during this ice storm that we just had?

It so was not as bad as 98. I was in Montreal, the center of the storm in 98. It lasted for 2 weeks. This week, it was for 3 days. I have a certificate from the city of Montreal congratulating me on surviving Ice 98. People who had electricity would pass extension cords across the street to people who didn’t have electricity (i.e.: me) and my fish died because the water froze. I had to move into my grandmother’s house and then into a hotel. A tree fell on a house 3 doors down from mine.

This week, all there was was 15 centimeters of snow, a few icy patches and a little power outage.

We lost power Thursday night at 10:30 and got it back at 3 this morning. It was pretty darn chilly here in the humble abode! We had a nice fire last night though. My kids stayed at friend’s houses who had heat. The tree damage everywhere is unbelievable. There are still some people in my town without power. They are not sure if there will be school Monday (NOOOO!!!) It’s amazing with all the candles I had burning and the flashlight I used, I STILL would flip the switch to turn on the lights wherever I went! : )

@mtl… true the electricity wasn’t gone for as long but the effects of the storm was as bad as ‘98’they just said here in Maine. @autumn.. there isn’t going to be school here either. it is set up as a shelter right now. there are so many without power still and no hope of it anytime soon they said.

@rossi – My son’s girlfriend still doesn’t have power, so she and her brothers will be staying here tonight. Also, my daughter’s friend (who lives across town) will be staying with us too. The kids are thinking this is marvelous. I don’t – ice is so scary!
