What did I miss here during the five-day power outage in my 'hood?
I had no computer,TV, running water, heat, light. It was a challenge. Severe ice storms brought down trees like toothpicks; the trees brought down power lines. Coping took some doing. Thank the lord for one land line phone. Yesterday for lunch I drank a container of Ben and Jerry’s vanilla ice cream. After 4:30 PM, Milo provided some warmth to augment the wood-burning stove.

As least is wasn’t My Antonia and the story of the wolves eating the bridal party! (But Milo would have fought them off.)
Glad you’re back on the grid, Gail!
I still think there’s some clarity missing on the effect/affect question. It’s one that always still stumps me; I’m going to look it up at work tomorrow.
I’M GOING TO BRANDEIS! :)
I’m glad power is restored for you and everything is back to it’s rightful order. Drinking a pint of Ben and Jerry’s for lunch sounds delicious.
@ omfg – Congratulations! That’s a lovely school.
I feel your pain gail. Try living through a Hurricanes aftermath, as in Ike. He was bigger than Texas itself and white out more than trees and power lines. Some people in Galveston are still missing. The authorities believe they were washed out to sea. I was without power for 11 days. It was stressful in the Texas heat with no running water or A/C!
I don’t know what you missed, but we missed you!
Maybe Mother Nature was trying to give you a subtle hint.
“Moooove to Arizona! Mooooooooove to Arizona!”
@Knot; one more hour and we would have had the car packed. And if that hint was subtle, I don’t want to see blatant. But keep the porch light on. We have more bad weather predicted on and off through Sunday.
@Flawed: Hello to you also.
