It depends on what school you go to. At mine, you can’t. At some of my friends’ you can. I would say you need to look at your general announcements to find out, but I seem you remember you’re in high school, so I would say to look at the general announcements of the colleges you’re thinking about attending if that’s important to you.

When I was in school I was a fuck off my freshmen year and I re took some failed classes but at my school, a state school and I am sure they are similar, only your first 3 re-taken classes replaced the previous F. After that you were F’d, literally.

It will still show up on your transcript but it won’t be counted toward your cumulative GPA if you take the class again and ace it the second time around.

I failed a class in grad school (ask me how that’s even possible), and as far as I know, my transcripts will show that I took the class twice, but only the good score will be counted toward my GPA. I’d speak with one of your advisors or, the ombudsman of your university. The ombudsman is often over looked, but man, are they useful. And if it turns out that your situation is similar to mine, don’t fret. No one is perfect, and anyone that sees your transcripts will be impressed if you are able to fix the grade.

The rule on retaking a failed class will be described in the student handbook. Get and keep the handbook for the year you start college since it will dictate the policies that will apply to you.
