Dale for the length and depth of his answers. Always helpful.
Wittiest? Hmmmm…..AstroChuck. One witty dude. I have about 5 runners-up though.
It’s Chuckie without a doubt!!
Wow queenzboulevard, I’m flattered. though not sure “witty” qualifies as I’ve heard that brevity is the soul of wit
i mean, i haven’t seen a chuckie before…
ohhhhhhhhh, astrochuck—yeah. ok
marina is good. where has she been lately? also soapchef and jack adams.
Astrochuck… DEFINITELY Astrochuck, lol…. just thinking about the stuff he posts sometimes makes me crack up. :P
Astro Chuck, but I’m a close second.
Sorry Charlie..Hey, that sounds like a tuna commercial!! I meant AstroChuck because many of his posts are so jocular.
@Pete, you are right about Knot, his answers are always witty!
Yeah, I would say Astro Chuck.
Since I can’t vote for myself, I’d vote for AstroChuck too. (And he’s so cute.)
You’d think he would get in on this by now. He’s probably hiding somewhere, watching us.
Vote for AstroChuck here.
Love that mailman.
Don’t upchuck, but its AstroChuck.
Astro Chuck, if you read this thread…have you always been so witty or is that something you acquired over time?
I can’t wait to see who AstroChuck picks since he can’t pick himself!
c’mere chuckie baby…mama sue got something for you…
ASTROCHUCK, ASTROCHUCK – HE’S OUR MAN,
IF HE CAN’T DO IT, NO-ONE CAN!
I’ll give mad props to AC as well!
Goooo Astrochuck!!!!
Maybe someone could point those of us who are new to an allstar list of Astrochuckian witticisms?
Oh, my. Well, AstroChuck is certainly the darling of Fluther, and deservedly so. But I hope we don’t start seeing ourselves as competitors. The atmosphere on this site is so nice without a feeling that we are being compared with one another and pitted against one another for recognition. I’d hate to see that change.
@Jeruba: I’ve recently become aware that this type of thing may make some people feel like they are ‘on the outside, looking in’, too. We shouldn’t be competetive about these things (not that I think we really are – but it might seem that way) .
No harm no foul with this one, I think there’s a clear concensus here. And that’s because we’re asking for a very specific criteria…wit. Now if we cushioned this in generalities and asked for favorites, we’d risk becoming cliquish and hurting each other’s feelings.
I agree with dalepetrie here;
Yes it’s a competition, but AstroChuck has swept pretty cleanly, so it’s not like we’re getting into arguments or anything. But it’s something to stay mindful of.
AstroChuck – where are you? We need you to come and bask in your glory – wittily, of course.
shucks. <blushes>
What do I win?
I’m going with Gail. No kidding. She can make me laugh out load. Of course, there are a lot of drive-by flutherers who are unintentionally hilarious.
(e.g.- frizzer)
You win Lurve. Lots and Lots of Lurve. (10,000+ worth.)
I think Augustlan has a very serious point here. It’s not the competition that’s the problem. It’s the people that weren’t selected, and wonder why they were overlooked. It’s the completely arbitrary nature of the process. It’s all about saying who is in and who is out. In folk can have a say, and out folk don’t say a thing.
They’re not going to say anything, but their feelings are still hurt. These kinds of questions, are, to my mind, what lead to a very nasty atmosphere over on Askville. People had hidden resentments, and they came out in strange ways. The cliques form, and the outsiders seethe and see the site as not for them. They go elsewhere. You may think these kinds of competitions are all in good fun, but for outsiders, it is a sign that they are not a part of things. It creates unfriendliness, but everyone thinks it’s fun. Very subtle. I think it is very dangerous, too.
It’s also the idea of ranking people at all, as if to say “look out, you’re being judged against one another,” and it’s the way “everybody knows everybody” feels to folks who don’t. “All in good fun” is fun just for those who are having the fun.
I’m in favor of our appreciating one another for whatever we have to offer and not of crowning anyone in any category.
