Looking for inexpensive MP3 player.

Asked by Raggedy_Ann (455points) December 17th, 2008

I’m looking to purchase an inexpensive MP3 player for my husband for Christmas. I had found one in town but after reading some reviews I’ve decided against it. Does anyone have a suggestion? I’m looking to spend around $50 or so.

$50 is a good price. Try Overstock. they have a few of them. For your info, I have two of the Sansdisk listed at Overstock. I got them during a woot-off at woot.com and paid about $10 each and they were refurbished and work just great.

@sueanne, thanks for the info. I’m actually looking to purchase in town not over the internet. But from what I’ve been able to figure out, Sansdisk, looks like a good one. I need one that’s easy to use and where CD’s can be loaded into it. We have so many that I thought this would be perfect for him when he’s working out, etc.

They are very easy to use and yep you can download your CD’s to your pc or mac and then load them onto the mp3. It’s a breeze and all you need is a media player on your comp.

I don’t know if you can find refurbished players in stores, but maybe.

My Sandisk Sansa Clip is perfect (for gym and running), and I think it was only $40. Got it from Best Buy I believe.

I bought my mother the Sandisk Fuze 4gb for 50$ over Black Friday. Both Best Buy and Circuit City were having the deal for it. I believe it’s originally 80$. Anyway, she absolutely loves loves it! And she isn’t computer smart, which is why this mp3 player is perfect for her because it works exactly like a USB where you just copy and paste the songs you like. No extra software needed, no hassle at all ! So you should look out for the sales deals in those kind of tech stores and hope to get something similar. Maybe you can buy a fuze with lesser memory if the 4gb one doesn’t stay in your price range?

Thanks for your help! I actually went and purchased a Philips brand one. I wanted the Sandisk brand that everyone recommended but they didn’t have any.
