You know what? This just happened to me a couple of minutes ago. I collect musical instruments and I also collect kokopellis. Tonight while I was doing my last minute Christmas shopping online, I found an ocarina with a kokopelli hand painted on it. I was really excited! So as I was doing my checkout, I mentioned to a friend that I just had to take off the excess stuff that I’d put in the cart for myself. I usually end up with about ten things in the cart for me and I have to shave it down to one or two. XD But this time all I’d added for myself was my calendar (which I always pick out while doing my Christmas shopping), a $1.50 book and the ocarina. Her reaction was, ”...Why?” She then proceeded to make me feel like a complete idiot for wanting the thing. By the time she was done, not only did I not want the ocarina anymore, but I also lost all confidence in the gifts I had chosen. So I scrapped the whole cart and wandered over here to Fluther all emo-like. Woe.
aw, I’m sorry MacBean! I know how you feel! That sounds like a really cool ocarina! Don’t let your friend’s careless words ruin your mood!
Wow, I just realized how easy it is to tell to someone else that, when I couldn’t stop my own mood from being ruined…
Anyway, I think you’re really cool, and it sounds like an awesome thing!
MacBean, buy the ocarina, make a terrible recording of yourself playing badly, and send it to her as a Christmas present. Call it “Kokopelli’s Revenge.”
so, what’s the story, chica?
@knot—That is a wonderful idea! hahaha
knot, um, i finished my exams on wednesday night, and i asked a question along the lines of “did I finish my exams without having a nervous breakdown, temper tantrum or other moment of complete insanity?”
and then in the details, i said something like, “yes i did – can you believe it?” sort of inviting other flutherers to congratulate me, but without directly asking them to.
and it got modded down in like 2 seconds. i was so sad i didn’t even edit to into a real question. i wrote this instead…
Congratulations! Keep your chin up about the posting thing, though. We’re happy to support ya, just gotta fit your joy into the guidelines next time. Hug, and this round’s on me. Cheers!
but i don’t want to fit my joy into guidelines! that is the saddest idea i’ve ever heard in my life! joy should be limitless, not fit into some imaginary box! i guess that’s why i didn’t edit the question…
