How to build a wooden guitar?

Asked by Krow1125 (38points) December 18th, 2008

I want to build a wooden guitar just for show or smashing. It doesn’t need to work. Anybody know any websites with plans, details or instructions on how to build a wooden guitar?

It’ll pretty much have to be an electric-style guitar, because you’ll never be able to manage the bending operations necessary to make the sides of a hollow-bodied acoustic-style guitar.

Here is a site that gives good overall instructions (you’ll obviously be able to take lots of shortcuts since the thing will never have to hold up under string tension).

And here is a site that lets you print up a full-size plan that you can use as a guide for shapes and sizes.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to buy one?

loser Indeed. A cheap acoustic guitar would cost you $50 off of amazon.

Here’s the background to this Q

why build one just to smash, why dont you build one to play? A Guitar is an amazing instrument.

I think it’s because building a guitar worthy of smashing
is easier than building a guitar worthy of being played.
Less skill involved, you see?

Harp I have already seen that question. I was trying to get some insight on why an acoustic guitar though. Even if if was recommended to build one via another Fluther question by the same original poster.
