INEXPENSIVE gift Ideas for the whole family?

Asked by 90s_kid (2193points) December 19th, 2008

Here’s the list:
-Ma
-Dad
-Grandma/grandpa
-Nonna
-Nonno (That’s what I call my grandparents because they are ITALIAN——keep that in mind)
-David (brother)
-Patty (aunt)
-Shakira (my cat)

If you can’t think of anything, maybe you could suggest inexpensive stores. I already have gifts for some, but I was planning on getting more than one gift for everyone.

How about making homemade gifts?
A painting or a drawing or anything else you have made means just as much—sometimes more—than a store bought gift, especially to grandparents!
And i don;t think Shakira would mind if your gift to her was homemade either :)

I already have something for her, I just thought that maybe someone else would think of something crafty. But our family treats her like as if she was my younger sister. She is 8.

Well, we don’t know much about your family so this may be a little hard, but – what city do you live in?

boston——we’re italian. Very italian. TOO italian.

Honestly, don’t even BOTHER with my aunt because she is sooo picky. I am serious
do not have to pick for my aunt everyone

Well, to start, for your Italian grandparents – you could easily get them a small selection of authentic Italian groceries from Dave’s. and dress them all really fancy in a gift basket. They’ll definitely appreciate it.

Ornaments…you can be real creative about this too, find some ornament that represents them or represents a special time with them this year. It is small, some are inexpensive, and it is unique.

You could make the ornaments! Easy, inexpensive, and can be personalized.

nooo me knowing them they’d want something else (they ecorate their christmas tree differently)

BUT WAIT——MY AUNT!! how could she turn down something as cute as a homemade ornament?

maybe I might just do that.

Do you know how to bake anything? If any of the like candy, here’s a simple one. Get a bag of chocolate chips, a package of chocolate almond bark and a bottle of dry roasted peanuts. Melt the two chocolate things together in the microwave, stir it all up. dump in the peanuts when the chocolate is melted, drop spoonfuls onto tinfoil or waxed paper, and viola, some damn good chocolate covered peanuts in about 15 minutes. You can do it with pretzels. You could use different flavors of chips and almond bark if some aren’t chocolate lovers. Most people like sweets, and almost everyone likes somethign you made yourself. The cat however would probably rather have a toy or a can of tuna

Homemade ornaments like stars, trees, bulbs, all made from cloth, and a sewn in saying or something like that. I am going to crochet some stars and shape them with a glue/water mix, pin them down to dry and glitter them.

@dalepetrie

The problem is that my dad makes chocolate covered candies (chocolatiers-but i hate that word). They’re actually really good and good quality. Imported Belgium Chocolate (or some european country). And we melt it on the stove. It takes time, but it is really good. If it were me, yea I would be wear-tearing my microwave just to get it done. >.> I hate chocolate personally, but I do like the chocolate covered peanuts andmarshmallows MMM!

I am not a food-giver (except you just gave me the idea to give my nonno a chocolate bar) YES! Thank you!

@ tiggers mom- II can’t sew.

That makes sense, glad I could help in with Nonno!

@ 90s kid, you can use glue and glitter.

I didn’t make any home gifts. It just isn’t what they want. But thanks a lot for the ideas :). Greatly appreciated——I am vrey hard to please so don’t feel bad.

As of now, I only need a gift for Grandpa/Grandma.

THEY LOVE HOMEMADE GIFTS!! Well, you might just have helped me :D.

I hope so, don’t worry about me helping or not, I hope I did. I make my own christmas cards too, people love them.
