What should I get my grandmother for xmas?

Asked by emilyrose (2277points) December 19th, 2008

My grandma likes to play cards, volunteer at the hospital, read. She lives in Vermont, so it’s cold a lot of the year. She is politically conservative so no Barack Obama books!

Get her a photo frame and load it up with family photos.
Or a Kindle and an Amazon gift card.

Make her a gift basket full of things she likes.

Well since I am not the best planner, it has to be something I can buy online and have shipped to her. I forgot to mention that….

If she has a sense of humor, these are nice for Vt. winters.

What about something like this or this if she’s a card player? Practical and nice to display.

How old is she, and is she by herself?

An Amazon gift card is a great idea.

she is mid 70s (ish) and yes, she lives alone but has lots of family in the area….

The kindle is a great idea, I love mine especially the variable font size which you can read w/o glasses. If that is too high try a $50 gift certificate to Home Bistro

You better get on the ball, many online places won’t get it there by Wednesday without a delivery premium.

We used to get my grandma items that she used on a regular basis…aspirin, whatever brand toothpaste, etc. If she likes to write letters or notes how about some nice stationery and stamps? Maybe throw in a bag of her favorite candy? Very inexpensive but practical.
