Fave christmas holiday movie on TV?

Asked by charliecompany34 (7813points) December 21st, 2008

for some reason, even though you have the DVD or not, you just enjoy watching it when it comes on TV.

wizard of oz (not a christmas movie, but it is on with commercials) miracle on 34th street, a christmas story, wonderful life, etc. prefer it in black and white or color?

or are you part of the new school christmas movie fan club?

i even have the 10 commandments DVD, but have never watched it on DVD. for some reason, i’d rather watch this Easter holiday classic on the ABC network with all the commercials.

@aanuszek1: I love that one! I also love, LOVE, LOVE “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!” I love Put One Foot in Front of the Other, The First Toymakers to the King, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

I love the Christmas claymation movies…can you tell?

I love how it shows exactly what every kid fears will happen, but secretly kinda wants it to… :)

No one’s said The Grinch Who Stole Christmas yet? What is the world coming to?

We just watched A Christmas Carol (the one with George C. Scott) on the spur of the moment the other day. I had never seen it all the way through, and loved it!

A Christmas Story. It is set in the late 40’s and I was a child in the 50’s but a lot of it is very familiar. We lived next door to a “Bumpas” family and it wasn’t about hounds, it was about their 9 kids always swarming. Actually there were 6 of us so we were probably seen as part of the neighborhood scourge.

Also the parents never had a clue about the children’s world.

I’ve always loved A Christmas Carol, Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (cartoon, NOT the Jim Carey one!).

A Christmas Story. TBS or something does a marathon every year and I keep it on THE ENTIRE TIME. I don’t sit there and watch it the entire time, but it’s there just in case I want to sit down for a few minutes. :D

@ cak

I think Jim Carey’s ‘overdone acting’ thing isn’t very funny and entertaining and more obnoxious.

Edit: I know, I am agreeing with her that Jim Carey’s is annoying and I cannot stand that one.

Prepare to be shocked.

I just watched A Christmas Story for the first time on Saturday.

I bought the DVD a few years back when I saw it on sale somewhere for like 4 bucks, but just never got around to watching it.

It is definitely a classic (fa ra ra ra ra)....and something I can watch w/ my 7 year old, sorry I missed out for so many years. Beyond the cartoons, it’s pretty much that and Elf. Though pretty soon I think he’ll be old enough for Christmas Vacation.

I mentioned the Grinch (yes, the cartoon one, the Carey version sucked, pardon my French), and of course there’s Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown and even the Year Without a Santa Claus.

Of course, after the yungun’s in bed, we do like to watch Badder Santa.
