@andrew, he is declawed, and i found him under a car during a hurricane. He was abandoned by his owners, so I’m not sure of his pedigree. If anyone has any insight, I’d greatly appreciate it. Like… it’s sorta like a flame-point himalayan, but its face is less extreme. He’s still majorly frowny, though. Again, any cat breeders or aficionados? Maybe this calls for its own question.

and to clarify, I gave you lurve for the “cat person” part, NOT the shooting yourself part.

My theory is that only the goodlooking ones are willing to share photos. Also those with nothing to hide. I think some of the people who put photos up there are incredibly brave.

@daloon: Why do you think it’s brave to post our photos?

Well if I recall, Mr. Daloon also doesn’t like to be addressed while standing in line for coffee either :D. So I can imagine he is in no hurry to post a photo. :(

I think Daloon’s reasoning is that we all talk about very personal things on Fluther, due to the shield of anonymity. Posting your picture takes away at least one layer of that shield…more if someone you know happens upon it! I am an open book in real life too, so it doesn’t really bother me. Daloon (and others, I’m sure) is in a position where revealing all to the people in his real life is not an option at the moment.

I agree with Soap, this is sort of like suspended reality. You just check out when you’re tired or irritated; you can’t always do that in offline life. I also agree, everybody does look nice, and mostly like I imagined!

@Trustinglife: be very careful about trusting that feeling of reality you get here. It very subtle, seditious, and can fool you into making some very big mistakes. I have learned that the hard way. Several times. Of course, I’m only one example, so I may be an outlier.

And to be fair, without this unreal world, there’s a good chance I wouldn’t be a father, or, for that matter, even be alive (that’s stretching it far, but it’s possible).

Wow daloon; seditious? That’s a heavy word to use in description of Fluther. Did you mean it that way or are you referring to the internet in general?

@bythebay – it is a metaphor—it (internet, fluther, facebook, whatever) seduces you with its blandishments about friendships and the next thing you know, you trust the person, and then, Boom! Out of the blue, they stab you in the back. It’s happened to me. I’ve seen it happen to others. I’ve learned to take precautions.

I don’t want to join another site. I hate having to register for things and won’t even read any newspaper’s website that demands a login. Against considerable resistance I already joined tinypic to be able to post links here. But I do have a photo of sorts up on Askville, where I lingered for a month before coming here and staying. Would anyone be kind enough to pick it up for me there and post it with the group’s?
