Watching my kids freak. I never put gifts under the tree, so my kids never know what’s coming at them.
The wonder in my grand babirs eyes.
nothing like seeing the kids eyes light up with great joy!! good answer judi and gimmedat!!
Not having work for almost 2 weeks :D
@cprevite and sakata.. wheres your christmas spirit? lol i do see your point. no more craziness!! :)
I’ve hated X-mas since I was 6. Granted, it’s fun watching the kids on X-mas morning, but outside of that (the entire season after Thanksgiving) it sucks.
I just don’t like all the insanity that’s spread over a 4 week period, like: decorations, SHOPPING, wrapping gifts, sending out cards, and all the charities (don’t get me started.) It’s just too much to put up with.
Like I said, watching the kids X-mas morning is cute but then again that only lasts a few minutes and it can pi$$ ya off more than the previous 4 weeks. “I spent 3 hours in a store to get that toy and now Billy’s playing with the box?!”
Bah humbug
@sakata.. i see your point now!!
Watching my daughters open their presents.
When I say grace at dinner, and I love shopping presents to my family, I love making them smile, cooking of course, I like it because I can share the blessing that my life has become with the ones that I love :)
Not to sound like a Scrooge or anything, but I love taking down the tree.
@gambit.. it is the greatest to see the kids so happy!
@flameboi.. awwww!!! that is sweet!!! :)
@supermouse.. i like to too. there seems to be more room in the living room all over again. I like space. with the tree it seems so crowded.
@rossi bear – yes I agree rossi. It is one of the best things about the holiday season.

A Blessed Christmas to all my fluther friends as well. My gift to you is a prayer for peace, warmth and Joy, regardless of your circumstances, May the peace that surpasses all understanding keep your hearts this holiday season!
@Judi, thank you. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Aside from the children’s excitement, the only thing I actually enjoy is wrapping presents. Is that weird?
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I don’t celebrate Christmas since I’m Jewish, but every year I do go over to my best friend’s house for dinner on Christmas eve and we exchange presents with her whole family. Its a big deal. I am very close with her family since we have known each other for a very long time, so my favorite part is really the getting together and eating and laughing and just being together for one day night.
It is really why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because all you have to do is eat and be together you don’t have to worry about presents.
I LOVE to wrap presents. But my favorite part is holiday lights. I don’t understand why we have to wait until X-mas to put cool lights in and on our houses. I have lights up on my porch and my back patio. Ooh…pretty lights.
The best part is being with family. Especially if it’s family you haven’t seen for awhile. I, too, like the lights. It’s tradition to go out and look at the lights in town. Usually I grab my Christmas CDs and play those while we drive. Also watching the kids open their gifts.
I love to give presents to the kids, but I have to say that I don’t think they’re at their best or most adorable in raw displays of greedy ripping and avid eagerness to get stuff. At our house we follow my mother’s tradition of opening presents slowly and appreciatively. A lot of care goes into the wrapping (it’s part of the present), and we admire and appreciate that first.
The lights, the music, the food, the rituals and traditions, the shiny things, the exchange of greetings with friends and relations, and the warm spirit of family togetherness are all important parts of Christmas to me.
And I used to love the snow and ice too, the red noses and frosty breath and the delicious feel of coming out of the bitter cold into a warm house filled with the smell of baking.
@ flameboi.. your welcome! and GOD BLESS EVERY ONE!!!
@ judi.. thank you !! bless you!! :0)
@flameboi… merry christmas to you too!! bless you!! :0)
